West Tinsley Railway Station
West Tinsley railway station is a former railway station in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. History The station served the communities of Tinsley and Carbrook and was situated on the Sheffield District Railway between Brightside Junction and Tinsley Yard, immediately adjacent to Sheffield Road, Tinsley. It opened on 30 September 1900 as "Tinsley Road", but was renamed "West Tinsley" by the GCR on 1 July 1907. It closed on 11 September 1939. It was briefly reopened from 6 October 1946 to 17 March 1947. The station had two wooden platforms each with wooden buildings very similar to Catcliffe, this being to reduce weight as the station was situated on top of an embankment which carried the line across the Don Valley from Brightside to Catcliffe. The station was finally closed in 1947 but it was not until the late 1960s that the buildings were demolished. Former passenger services There never was a Sunday service from West Tinsley. Tinsley is a suburb of north-eastern Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England; it falls within the Darnall ward of the city. Mansfield Railway Station (England)
Mansfield railway station is a railway station which serves the town of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, England. Alternatively it is named Mansfield Town, to distinguish itself from the GCR's former Mansfield Central and Mansfield Woodhouse's station. The station is north of Nottingham on the Robin Hood Line, and is managed by East Midlands Railway. The station building is Grade II listed. History The town was originally the terminus of the Mansfield and Pinxton Railway, built in 1819. It was bought by the Midland Railway, which used the final section to extend its new Leen Valley line to the present station in 1849. Swallownest Railway Station
Swallownest railway station was a planned railway station which was planned to open to serve the growing townships of Aston and Swallownest east of Sheffield. It appeared in the British Railways Working Timetable very briefly in the Autumn changes in 1993 being withdrawn from them at the following change (Spring 1994). The plan was to build a small station at the point where the Sheffield Victoria to Worksop line passed beneath the Swallownest to Beighton road (Chesterfield Road) on the south side to the villages, approximately one mile west of the site of the old Waleswood Station which closed in 1955. As part of the plan to increase rail usage in the area and with the expansion of Swallownest towards the line this was considered the best location for a station which could then be incorporated into the timetable. Edgar Allen and Company was a steel maker and engineer, which from the late 19th century was based at Imperial Steel Works, Tinsley, Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The site was bounded by Sheffield Road, Vulcan Road and the Sheffield District Railway to which it was connected. Brightside Railway Station
Brightside railway station is a former railway station in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The station served the communities of Brightside and Wincobank and was situated on the Midland Main Line on Holywell Road, lying between Attercliffe Road and Holmes railway station. Work on the Sheffield and Rotherham Railway commenced in February 1837, with Brightside Cutting being the first structure undertaken. The station opened on 1 November 1838, at the same time as the Sheffield and Rotherham Railway from Wicker station and had two platforms although four tracks went through. The two outside tracks were for freight use whilst the two inside tracks were used by both stopping and express trains. Holmes railway station was a railway station in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The station served the communities of Masbrough and Holmes and was situated on the former Sheffield and Rotherham Railway (S&R) line between Rotherham Westgate Station and Wincobank and Meadowhall Station. The North Midland Railway was a British railway company, which opened its line from Derby to Rotherham (Masbrough) and Leeds in 1840. At Derby, it connected with the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway and the Midland Counties Railway at what became known as the Tri-Junct Station. Shirebrook North railway station was a railway station serving the town of Shirebrook in Derbyshire, England. It was on the Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway running from Chesterfield to Lincoln.
