West Bengal Women's Football Team
The West Bengal women's football team is an Indian women's football team representing West Bengal in the Senior Women's National Football Championship. History West Bengal women's football team have appeared in the Women's National Championship finals fifteen times, and have won the championship two times. They were the winner of the inaugural season of Women's National Championship in 1991–92 and last won it in 1996–97 held at Haldia. Salt Lake Stadium
The Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK; ), commonly known as the Salt Lake Stadium, is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium located in Bidhannagar, with current capacity of 85,000 spectators. Named after Swami Vivekananda, the stadium forms the home ground for multiple football clubs, most notably ATK Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan. It is the fifth largest sports stadium in Asia by seating capacity. Before its renovation in 2011, it was the largest football stadium in the world, having a seating capacity of 120,000. ''Anandabazar Patrika'' (Bengali: আনন্দবাজার পত্রিকা, ) is an Indian Bengali-language daily newspaper owned by the ABP Group. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it has a circulation of 1 million copies as of December 2019. Its main competitors are ''Bartaman'', ''Ei Samay'', and ''Sangbad Pratidin''. 2011 National Games Of India
The 2011 National Games of India, also known as the ''34th National Games of India'' and informally as Jharkhand 2011 was the 34th edition of National Games of India, held from 12 February 2011 to 26 February 2011 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. Services (Services Sports Control Board – SSCB), which was a combined team of the Indian Armed Forces, retained the overall title with 70 gold medals. Services were presented with the Raja Bhalendra Trophy for the champions team. The 2007 National Games, also known as the ''33rd National Games of India'' and informally as Assam 2007 was the 33rd edition of the National Games of India, held from 9 February 2007 to 18 February 2007 in Guwahati, Assam, India. Football At The National Games Of India
Football has been a sport at the National Games of India since the 1985 edition, while the Women's football tournament was introduced in the 1999 edition. The 1985 National Games was the first modern National Games to be held since its inception in 1924 and was also the first to be held on the lines of the Olympics. Punjab and West Bengal are currently the most successful states in the Men's event with 3 Gold Medals each while Manipur is the most successful in Women's event with 5 Gold Medals. Sushil Bhattacharya
Sushil Bhattacharya (1924 – 18 July 2015) was an Indian professional football player and coach, who is credited for becoming the first manager of the India women's national football team. He was also the first head coach in history of East Bengal Club. Playing career Born in Bagdogra, Bhattacharya used to play both cricket and hockey beside football. He began his playing career with Town Club in Berhampur, representing the team in IFA Shield. He then appeared with Vidyasagar College and Sporting Union, before signing with East Bengal in 1945. With East Bengal, he achieved the double in 1945 by winning both the Calcutta Football League and IFA Shield. His consistent performances on both flanks in a 3–2–5 formation helped the team achieving success and earned him a national team callup in 1946.
