Wesley Mimico United Church
Wesley Mimico United Church is a church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the neighbourhood of Mimico in the former city of Etobicoke. The church was created by the union of the former Wesley Methodist Church, Mimico and St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in 1927, of which the Methodist church was the larger partner. History Methodist Heritage Early Methodists were served by ministers working a 'circuit' of communities the earliest of which west of Toronto was the Cooksville (Mississauga) branch of the (rural) Toronto circuit which began about 1845. Five years later in 1850, with the creation of Etobicoke Township a Mimico branch of the Cooksville circuit was opened which quickly built a church in the original Postal Village of Mimico in central Etobicoke (Dundas at Islington) and identified itself as a Wesleyan Congregation. Wesley Methodist Church, Singapore
Wesley Methodist Church is the oldest Methodist church in Singapore. It is the second Methodist Church to be built in Singapore after the Methodist Episcopal Church at Coleman Street which subsequently became a school hall. It is located in Fort Canning Hill. History On 7 February 1885, William Fitzjames Oldham was appointed to head the Methodist Church in Singapore. He arrived with James Mills Thoburn and together they conducted a series of evangelistic rallies in the Town Hall (later the Victoria Memorial Hall) and Sunday evening worship services. The congregation was known as the English Church and met weekly in the Town Hall. Through fundraising and Oldham’s contributions, the first Methodist church in Singapore was built at Coleman Street and dedicated on 15 December 1886, named the Methodist Episcopal Church. The Wesley Methodist Church, located on Haunz Lane in Oldham County near the Jefferson County line in Kentucky, is a historic church which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It was built in 1824 and, in its 1984 Kentucky historic resources site inventory, it was identified as the "only known unaltered early stone church" in Kentucky. Wesley Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church at 8 North Street in Salem, Massachusetts. It is currently affiliated with the United Methodist denomination. History According to the church: Circuit Rider Jessie Lee came preaching the Gospel in Salem in the early 1800s. A small gathering of early Christians met in a storefront and sat on boxes to hear Jesus Christ proclaimed. They purchased the Harbor Street building and met for years until growth multipled the congregation.
