Amy Welborn (born July 17, 1960, Bloomington, Indiana) is an American Roman Catholic writer and activist, as well as a public speaker. Formerly, she was a theology teacher at a Catholic high school in Lakeland Florida and served as a parish Director of Religious Education. Robert "Bob" Joe Welborn (May 5, 1928 – August 10, 1997) of Denton was a NASCAR Grand National Series driver. He was named to NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers list in 1998. He won the final three NASCAR Convertible Division championships in 1956, 1957, and 1958. NASCAR career Welborn drove in 11 Grand National events in 1953 for Julian Petty and J.O. Goode’s. Ira Clinton Welborn (February 13, 1874 – July 13, 1956) was a United States Army colonel who was a recipient of the Medal of Honor for valor in action on July 2, 1898, at Santiago, Cuba, Santiago, Cuba. Early life and Spanish–American War Ira C. Welborn was born in Mico, Mississippi. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point as a member of the class of 1898. John Welborn (representative)
John Welborn (November 20, 1857 – October 27, 1907) was an American politician who represented Missouri in the United States House of Representatives from 1905 to 1907. Biography Welborn was born near Aullville, Missouri on November 20, 1857. He attended the public schools, and graduated from the Warrensburg State Normal School in 1876. Welborn taught school while studying law with John J. Cockrell (son of Francis Cockrell), and he attained admission to the bar in 1880. He practiced in Lexington, Missouri, where he served as city recorder from 1890 to 1891, and mayor from 1896 to 1900. In 1898 he was an unsuccessful candidate for Congress. Welborn served on the board of regents for the Warrensburg Normal School, and was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1900. Welborn Barton Griffith Jr. (November 19, 1901 – August 16, 1944) was an American officer who served during World War II in the United States Army. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in the Class of 1925. Colonel Griffith is best remembered for being instrumental in saving France's Chartres Cathedral, one of the most important monuments of medieval civilization, during the battle of Chartres (August 16–18, 1944) in World War II. As Operations Officer (G-3) with Headquarters, for XX Corps, Griffith and his driver searched the cathedral, and climbed to the top of its bell tower. Finding no Germans there, he was able to rescind the order to shell the monument.
