The Weinberg Center is a 1,143-seat theater building located in Frederick, Maryland. It holds various showings of music, theater, films, studio screenings, conventions, weddings, business meetings, television and commercial location shoots and visual arts. History The theatre was built as the Tivoli Theatre by the Stanley-Crandall Company and opened on December 23, 1926. It was the premiere movie theatre of Frederick for nearly fifty years but closed after considerable damage suffered in a 1976 flood. The Weinberg family, which then owned the old movie palace, chose to present it to the city as a gift rather than attempt to keep it open as a movie house. Weinberg House (Waren)
Weinberg House is a historicist villa at ''Bahnhofstraße 26'' in the town of Waren (Müritz) in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Despite subsequent modifications the house is one of the sights of the town. It is known in German as ''Schloss Weinberg'', or colloquially as the '' Weinbergschloss''. History Weinberg House in Waren on the shores of Lake Müritz was built in the 1870s by the Waren architect, Gustav Werner, and was completed in October 1875. The owner was Hermann von Maltzan. In autumn at Michaelmas (29 September) 1875 the ''Malzaneum'' natural history museum moved into the rooms of the house. After it was sold in 1876 the museum had to move out again. In 1877 the house was bought by Herrmann Bachstein and became the head office for a construction division of the Mecklenburg Southern Railway. Mark Wainberg
Mark Arnold Wainberg, (21 April 1945 – 11 April 2017) was a Canadian HIV/AIDS researcher and HIV/AIDS activist. He was the Director of the McGill University AIDS Centre at the Montreal Jewish General Hospital and Professor of Medicine and of Microbiology at McGill University. His laboratory primarily studies HIV reverse transcriptase, the molecular basis for drug resistance, and gene therapy. He received a B.Sc. from McGill University in 1966, a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1972, and did his post-doctoral research at Hadassah Medical School of the Hebrew University. Accomplishments and honors Wainberg and his collaborators were the first to identify the antiviral capabilities of 3TC in 1989 and test the drug in patients. 3TC is also called lamivudine.
