Weightlifting At The 2019 Pan American Games
Weightlifting competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held between July 27 and 30, 2019 at the Coliseo Mariscal Caceres. The venue will also host the bodybuilding competitions. In 2016, the International Olympic Committee made several changes to its sports program, which were subsequently implemented for these games. Included in the changes was a reduction of one men's weightlifting event. This means a total of 14 weightlifting events will be contested (seven per gender). A total of 126 weightlifters will qualify to compete at the games. This event will serve as one of the events that will allow athletes to post qualifying weights for the weightlifting competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Weightlifting At The 2015 Pan American Games
Weightlifting competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 11 to 15 at the General Motors Centre (Oshawa Sports Centre) in Oshawa. Due to naming rights the arena was as the latter for the duration of the games. A total of fifteen weightlifting events were held: eight for men and seven for women. Venue The competitions will take place at the General Motors Centre (Oshawa Sports Centre) located about in the city of Oshawa, about 60 kilometers from the athletes village. The arena will have a reduced capacity (from its normal of about 5,500) of about 3,000 people per session. The venue will also host boxing competitions later during the games. Boady Santavy (born May 22, 1997) is a Canadian weightlifter from Sarnia, Ontario. Personal life Santavy's father, Dalas competed at the 2005 World Weightlifting Championships, while his grandfather Bob, represented the country at the 1968 and 1976 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and Montreal respectively. Santavy's grandfather also won a bronze at the 1975 Pan American Games in Mexico City. Santavy's younger brother Noah is also a weightlifter.
