''Wearing Velvet Slippers under a Golden Umbrella'' ( my, ကတ္တီပါ ဖိနပ်စီး ရွှေထီးဆောင်း, Pronounced as Katipa phanat see shwe htee hsaung) is a 1970 Burmese black & white film directed by Maung Wunna starring Myat Mon, Myat Lay and Thet Naung. The film was Maung Wunna's first feature as director and he also wrote the screenplay, based on the novel of the same name by Maung Thara. Plot Dr. Kyi Thar (Myat Lay), who works at the intensive-care unit, Mental Health Hospital, Yangon, and the patient Ma Htar Htar (Myat Mon), an elder sister of a friend. Bagyi Aung Soe
''Bagyi'' Aung Soe ( my, ဗဂျီ အောင်စိုး ; 1924–1990) was a Burmese painter renowned for his modernistic, semi-abstract art, which caused such a shock in Burma when it appeared that many called it "psychopathic art". The name "Bagyi" is his phonetic spelling of the word "pangyi", meaning "painting", which he first added to his name in 1955. Santiniketan and Early Life in Burma The Indian government offered him a scholarship in 1951 to study art at Santiniketan, founded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, but he chose to return to Burma after only a year. Maung Wunna (filmmaker)
Maung Wunna ( my, မောင် ဝဏ္ဏ, 19 January 1947 – 11 January 2011) was a two-time Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards-winning Burmese director and writer. He came from a family heavily involved in the entertainment industry—his father Thadu was a director and his brother Thu Maung was a prominent singer and actor and Min Lu was a reputed satirist. Maung Wunna died of lung cancer in 2011. Career Wunna worked from an early age as a sound engineer and film editor for his novelist and filmmaker father, Thadu. In 1970 he earned a BA in philosophy from University of Yangon. Myat Mon ( my, မြတ်မွန်, ; born 1942) is a Burmese actress who won the 1959 Academy Award in the film ''Ka Gyi Yay Ka''. Early life and career Myat Mon made her feature film debut when she was sixteen years old, taking on the leading role in ''Ka Gyi Yay Ka'' (1958) alongside Htun Wai. She experienced a rise in popularity and won the Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards in 1959.
