Cochrane District, Ontario
Cochrane District is a district and census division in Northeastern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1921 from parts of Timiskaming and Thunder Bay districts. In 2016, the population was 79,682. The land area of this district is , making it slightly smaller than the US State of Michigan and the second largest district in Ontario after Kenora District. Watson Township is a civil township of Allegan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,063 at the 2010 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and , or 2.04%, is water. History William and Eliza Miner, and Daniel and Flora Legget (two couples, Flora and William were siblings), are credited as the earliest settlers of Watson Township, in 1836. On April 14, 1871, a post office named West Watson was established in the western part of Watson Township. On October 2 of that year, the post office was renamed Abronia. Cass County is the most populous county in North Dakota, accounting for nearly 24% of the state's population. The county seat is Fargo, the state's most populous city. Watson Township is a township in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 534 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Williamsport Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Watson Township was formed in January 1848 from parts of Porter and Cummings townships. It is named for Oliver Watson, the president of a bank in nearby Williamsport at the time. Watson Township is and always has been a largely unpopulated area. It is mountainous and covered with a thriving second-growth forest. During the late 1800s much of the land was stripped of its old-growth forests. At the time central Pennsylvania and the city of Williamsport were at the center of the lumber industry in the United States. Trees were cut down and floated down Pine Creek, which flows through Watson Township. There were several sawmills along Pine Creek in the township. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 49.9 square miles (129.2 km2), of which 49.6 square miles (128.4 km2) is land and 0.3 square mile (0.8 km2) (0.62%) is water.
