Washington's 32nd legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. It includes the cities of Lynnwood, Edmonds (both in Snohomish County) and Shoreline (in King County). The district's legislators are state senator Jesse Salomon and state representatives Cindy Ryu (position 1) and Lauren Davis (position 2), all Democrats. The Washington State Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Washington. It is a bicameral body, composed of the lower Washington House of Representatives, composed of 98 Representatives, and the upper Washington State Senate, with 49 Senators plus the Lieutenant Governor acting as president. The state is divided into 49 legislative districts, each of which elect one senator and two representatives. Lynnwood is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The city is part of the Seattle metropolitan area and is located north of Seattle and south of Everett, near the junction of Interstate 5 and Interstate 405. Edmonds is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is located in the southwest corner of the county, facing Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains to the west. The city is part of the Seattle metropolitan area and is located north of Seattle and southwest of Everett. With a population of 39,709 residents in the 2010 U.S. census, Edmonds is the third most populous city in the county. The estimated population in 2019 was 42,605. Shoreline is a city in King County, Washington, United States. It is located between the city limits of Seattle and the Snohomish County border, approximately north of Downtown Seattle. As of the 2020 census, the population of Shoreline was 58,608, making it the 22nd largest city in the state. Cindy Ryu
Cindy Ryu (born 1949) is an American politician serving as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from the 32nd district. She was the first Korean-American woman to be a mayor in the United States. She is the Chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee and works on issues such as broadband deployment, catalytic converter thefts, consumer protection, outdoor recreation funding, increasing housing supply, and resilience of small businesses, communities, infrastructure and the environment. Lauren Davis (politician)
Lauren Davis (born 1986) is a member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 32nd legislative district. Career Davis is the Executive Director of the Washington Recovery Alliance, a role she took on after helping found the organization. She has also worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and helped develop school suicide prevention programs. She was a Fulbright fellow in Ghana and has taught graduate level social work classes at the University of Washington. Before entering policy Davis was a caretaker for a friend, which inspired her to be the citizen co-sponsor behind HB1713, also known as Ricky's Law. The bill was named after her friend. In 2018, Ruth Kagi, Davis's predecessor, announced that she was not going to seek reelection.
