Warriors (1983 Warriors Album)
''Warriors'' is the first studio album by Yugoslav/ Canadian heavy metal band Warriors, released in 1983. It is the band's first self-titled album, the second being their second (and last) album, released in 1984. Background and recording Warriors were formed in 1982 by vocalist Dušan Nikolić and drummer Miroslav "Vicko" Milatović. Milatović was at the time a member of highly successful band Riblja Čorba, Warriors being his side project. The first lineup of the band also featured guitarist Dragan Deletić, guitarist Zoran Konjević and bass guitarist Slobodan Svrdlan (a former member of the band Gordi). In 1983 this lineup of the band released the EP entitled ''Warriors – Ratnici'', after which Milatović had to leave the band due to his mandatory stint in the Yugoslav People's Army, and soon after Canadian guitarist Douglass Platt replaced Deletić. Riblja Čorba ( sr-Cyrl, Рибља Чорба, pronounced ; translation: lit. ''Fish Stew'') is a Serbian and former Yugoslav rock band formed in Belgrade in 1978. The band was one of the most popular and most influential acts of the Yugoslav rock scene. Riblja Čorba was formed in 1978 by vocalist Bora Đorđević, guitarist Rajko Kojić, bass guitarist Miša Aleksić and drummer Vicko Milatović. Their debut release, the single "Lutka sa naslovne strane" (1978), saw huge success and launched them to fame. Sloba Marković
Slobodan ( sr-Cyrl, Слободан) is a Serbo-Croatian masculine given name which means "free" (''sloboda'' / meaning "freedom, liberty") used among other South Slavs as well. It was coined by Serbian liberal politician Vladimir Jovanović who, inspired by John Stuart Mill's essay ''On Liberty'' baptised his son as Slobodan in 1869 and his daughter Pravda (Justice) in 1871. Gordi ( sr-Cyrl, Горди; trans. ''The Proud Ones'') were a Yugoslav rock band formed in Belgrade in 1977. The band was formed by guitarist and vocalist Zlatko Manojlović, former leader of the progressive rock band Dah. Initially the band's works were progressive/ hard rock-oriented. However, with their fourth studio album, ''Pakleni trio'' (1981), the band turned towards heavy metal. The band released one more heavy metal album, ''Kraljica smrti'' (1982), disbanding two years after the release. After Gordi ended their activity, Manojlović started a successful career as a solo artist. Side Project
In popular music, a side project is a project undertaken by one or more people already known for their involvement in another band. It can also be an artist or a band temporarily switching to a different style. Usually these projects emphasize a different aspect of that person's or that band's musical interests that they feel they cannot explore within the boundaries established by their main project. Side projects can later become full-time endeavours, but should not be confused with quitting a band for a solo career or another band. Peter Hartlaub of ''San Francisco Chronicle'' called the solo side project "the biggest longshot bet in mainstream music". Vicko Milatović
Miroslav "Vicko" Milatović (Serbian Cyrillic: Мирослав-Вицко Милатовић) is a Serbian musician best known as the drummer for the Serbian and Yugoslav rock band Riblja Čorba. Milatović first gained prominence in the late 1970s as the member of the Belgrade band SOS, which enjoyed some local popularity. In 1978, SOS members and vocalist Bora Đorđević formed the band Riblja Čorba, which went on to become one of the most popular and influential acts of the Yugoslav rock scene.
