Warri South
Warri South is a Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the city of Warri. It has an important sea port in the country and is the commercial nerve centre of the state, With Dr. Tidi Michael as the current local government chairman. The area is predominantly riverine with large expanses of mangrove forests and has a land. It harbors many industrial establishments including all the major oil companies operating in Nigeria. It is home to the Urhobo, Ijaw and itsekeri people. Warri
The city of Warri is an oil hub within South-South Nigeria and houses an annex of the Delta State Government House. Warri City is one of the major hubs of the petroleum industry in Nigeria. Warri and her twin city, Uvwie are the commercial capital of Delta State with a population of over 311,970 people in 2006. The city is the indigenous territory of Urhobo, itsekiri and Ijaw people. Dr Tidi Michael Ejueyitsi (born 15 September 1980) is the 15th and current local government chairman of Warri south local government area, Delta State Nigeria. He was born to Joshua Oritsetimeyin Tidi and late Princess Roli Lizzy Emiko. Tidi Michael was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, Nigeria. He is an Itsekiri of Okere, Ode-Itsekiri and Omadino, and Urhobo of Ukpokiti and Igbudu of Agbarah all of Warri South Council Area of Delta State. Education Michael had his primary education at Ikengbuwa primary school Warri, his junior secondary at Yonwuren college Warri and his senior secondary at Brisco Commercial College Warri, Delta State. He later gained admission into the University of Port-Harcourt where he acquired a Bachelor's degree in Economics and further acquired a master's degree in Economics at the Delta State University. Urhobo People
The Urhobos are people located in southern Nigeria, near the northwestern Niger Delta. The Urhobos are the major ethnic group in Delta State, one of the 36 states in Nigeria, Ethnic Nationality in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Urhobo people speak the Urhobo language. The word Urhobo refers to a group of people rather than a territory. Approximately 5 million people are Urhobos. They have a social and cultural affinity to the Bini people of Nigeria. Ijaw People
The Izon people or Izon Otu, otherwise known as the Ijaw people due to the historic mispronunciation of the name ''Izon'', are an ethnic group majorly found in the Niger Delta in Nigeria, with significant population clusters in Bayelsa, in Delta, and in Rivers. They are also found in other Nigerian states like Ondo, and Edo State. Many are found as migrant fishermen in camps as far west as Sierra Leone and as far east as Gabon. Population figures for the Ijaws are placed at just over 4 million, accounting for 1.8% of the Nigerian population. They have long lived in locations near many sea trade routes, and they were well connected to other areas by trade as early as the 15th century. Itsekiri People
The Itsekiri (also called the Isekiri, ''i Jekri'', ''Itsekri'', ''Ishekiri'', or Itsekhiri) are one of the Yoruboid subgroup of Nigeria's Niger Delta area, Delta State. The Itsekiris presently number 2.7 million people and live mainly in the Warri South, Warri North and Warri South West local government districts of Delta State on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria. Significant communities of Itsekiris can be found in parts of Edo and Ondo states and in various other Nigerian cities including Lagos, Benin City, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
