''Promises'' is a 2021 collaborative studio album by British electronic musician Floating Points, American jazz saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, and the London Symphony Orchestra. It was released on 26 March 2021 through New York–based label Luaka Bop. The album consists of a single 46-minute composition noted for its "dreamlike" quality. The album has received widespread critical acclaim from music critics. ''Promises'' was the final album Sanders released in his lifetime, having died in 2022. Background and recording Sam Shepherd, a British DJ, musician and producer, has produced numerous projects in the field of electronic music under the moniker Floating Points. ''Promises'' is a 2001 documentary film that examines the Israeli–Palestinian conflict from the perspectives of seven children living in the Palestinian communities in the West Bank and Israeli neighborhoods of Jerusalem. ''Promises'' has been shown at many film festivals and received excellent reviews and many accolades. The film follows Israeli-American filmmaker B.Z. Goldberg as he meets with seven Palestinian and Israeli children between the ages of nine and thirteen, seeing the Middle East conflict through their eyes. It allows "ordinary" kids to develop natural bonds of affection by simply playing games with each other - bonds which go beyond the clutter of prejudices that they have heard from their parents and others around them. Promises (The Hunters Album)
''Promises'' is the second full-length album by Canadian rock band The Hunters. The album was released on April 17, 2012 on Stomp Records, their first on a record label. The first single, "Van Party Forever" was released on June 5 and the music video features the band playing with The Sainte Catherines during their farewell tour. The second music video is made entirely of shots from their journey to The Fest 11 in Gainesville. It was filmed during Hurricane Sandy and features the band driving all the way from Florida to Québec in a rental car as all flights were cancelled. It was released on November 27, 2012. A documentary webseries about ''Promises'' promotional tour was released in January 2013. Titled ''Driving on Promises'', the ten episodes cover the whole tour through Quebec and Ontario. Promises (group)
Promises was a Canadian-based pop group which was founded 1978 in Thousand Oaks, California. The members were siblings Leslie Maria Knauer (born August 20, 1957, Vancouver, vocals, bongos), Jed Knauer (born July 17, 1955, Toronto, guitar, piano) and Benny Knauer (born October 21, 1958, Vancouver, keyboards and vocals). Their father Peter Knauer was a German from Hamburg who moved with his children from Canada to California in the late 1960s. Promises was formed, recorded and produced by Steve Verroca, who leased the group's album to EMI EAR Holland. In February 1979, the soft rock single "Baby It's You" became a smash hit around the world, especially in Europe, where it reached number 4 in the German charts, and Promises received a Gold album there for selling more than 260,000 units.
