It is his second solo album of entirely new material, and was recorded at the same time as his previous album, Warm (Jeff Tweedy album), Warm. Jeff Tweedy
Jeffrey Scot Tweedy (born August 25, 1967) is an American musician, songwriter, author, and record producer best known as the singer and guitarist of the band Wilco. Tweedy, originally from Belleville, Illinois, started his music career in high school in his band The Plebes with Jay Farrar, which subsequently transitioned into the alternative country band Uncle Tupelo. After Uncle Tupelo broke up, Tweedy formed Wilco which found critical and commercial success, most notably with ''Yankee Hotel Foxtrot'' and ''A Ghost Is Born'', the latter of which received a Grammy for Best Alternative Album in 2005. Across his career Tweedy has released 20 studio albums, including four with Uncle Tupelo, twelve with Wilco, one with his son Spencer, a solo acoustic album, three solo studio albums, along with numerous collaborations with other musicians, most notably ''Mermaid Avenue'' with Billy Bragg. ''Love Is the King'' is the fourth solo studio album by American musician Jeff Tweedy. It was released on October 23, 2020, via dBpm Records. Recording sessions took place at the Loft in Chicago during lockdown in April 2020 after Wilco's tour dates were cancelled due to COVID-19. Production was handled by Tom Schick and Tweedy himself. It features contributions from his sons Spencer and Sam. Critical reception ''Love Is the King'' was met with universal acclaim from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 81 based on ten reviews. Tweedy is an American rock band composed of Jeff Tweedy, from the group Wilco, and his son, Spencer. The duo has released one album, ''Sukierae,'' in 2014. The elder Tweedy had planned ''Sukierae'' to be a solo record, but kept Spencer involved after playing together on early sessions. The group's album name references Susie, Jeff's wife and Spencer's mother, who was diagnosed with cancer during the composition process. When touring, as of 2014 the group included bassist Darin Gray, guitarist Jim Elkington, keyboardist-guitarist Liam Kazar (Cunningham), and sometimes singer Sima Cunningham (Liam's sister).
