"War Is the H-Word" is the seventeenth episode in the second season of the American animated television series ''Futurama'', and the 30th episode of the series overall. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on November 26, 2000. The episode parodies several war films and shows, including ''Starship Troopers'', ''Star Wars'' and ''M*A*S*H''. Plot Fry and Bender enlist in the Earth Army to take advantage of the 5% military discount to buy Big Pink ham-flavored chewing gum. Within seconds of their enlistment, Earth declares war on Spheron I, a planet that commanding general Zapp Brannigan describes as devoid of any natural resources and possessing no strategic value. Concerned for her friends' safety, Leela attempts to enlist, but she is unable to do so with the Army's men-only policy. Ron Hughart
Ronald P. Hughart (born June 18, 1961) is an American animator, director, and storyboard artist. He has worked on several shows, including ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'', '' Family Dog'', '' Futurama'' and '' American Dad!''. He also worked on ''Ren & Stimpy'' as a layout supervisor and timing director. Hughart currently works on ''American Dad!'' as co-supervising director with Brent Woods. During his work on '' Futurama'', supervising director Rich Moore said that Ron had directed some of the best scenes of violence on the show. This was noted on the audio commentary of Raging Bender. The Problem With Popplers
"The Problem with Popplers" is the fifteenth episode in the second season of ''Futurama''. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on May 7, 2000. The title is a reference to the ''Star Trek: The Original Series'' episode "The Trouble with Tribbles". The episode focuses on the Planet Express crew discovering what they think is fast food they call "Popplers," but they turn out to be the young of the Omicron aliens, and the evil Lrrr seeks revenge. Plot When the Planet Express crew lands on a planet in search for a fast food restaurant, they find that it abounds in a delicious edible life-form, which they call "Popplers". When Aliens Attack
"When Aliens Attack" is episode twelve in season one of '' Futurama''. It originally aired on Fox in the United States on November 7, 1999. This episode was written by Ken Keeler and directed by Brian Sheesley. The episode features an attack by aliens from Omicron Persei 8, when the planet's ruler Lrrr is outraged when the final episode of the Earth show ''Single Female Lawyer'' is interrupted by technical difficulties. Plot The episode opens in the year 1999, with Fry making a pizza delivery to the control booth of WNYW, New York's Fox flagship station. While there, Fry spills beer on the console (later in the episode, Amy did some research, saying it was a Coke), interrupting the broadcast of ''Single Female Lawyer'' (a spoof of '' Ally McBeal''). Zoidberg
Dr. John A. Zoidberg, often referred to only by his last name, is a fictional character from the animated series ''Futurama''. He is a Decapodian, a crustacean-like species of alien, who works as the staff doctor for ''Planet Express'', despite his woeful understanding of human physiology and allusions to his questionable credentials. His character parodies the supposed wealth and automatic respect of modern doctors—for example, his incompetence at human medicine makes him extremely poor despite his profession, and he is implied to be frequently homeless when not at work. The Decapod (named after the actual Decapoda order of ten-footed crustaceans) are an extended parody on Jewish culture —the bigger joke being that shellfish are not kosher. Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth, commonly referred to in-show as either Professor Farnsworth or simply Professor, is a fictional character in the American animated television series ''Futurama''. Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals were U.S. Army field hospital units conceptualized in 1946 as replacements for the World War II-era Auxiliary Surgical Group hospital units, which had become obsolete. MASH Units were in operation from the Korean War to the Gulf War before being phased out in the early 2000s. Each MASH unit had 60 beds, as well as surgical, nursing, and other enlisted and officer staff available at all times. MASH units filled a vital role in military medicine by providing support to army units upwards of 10,000 to 20,000 soldiers.
