"Want You Back" is a song by American band Haim from their second studio album, ''Something to Tell You'' (2017). It was released on May 3, 2017, as the album's lead single. The song was written by Haim with its producer Ariel Rechtshaid. Background "Want You Back" originally began as a much slower song, with Este Haim describing the first iteration as "More like a chill acoustic guitar kind of thing." It remained this way for a long period of time until the band brought it to one of their default producers upon feeling that "Something is not working with this song", ultimately suggesting that they adjust the tempo of the song to be 30 beats per minute faster than it was first written. Alana explained that increasing the tempo made the group's harmonies more difficult yet helped identify it as a Haim song. Grey is an American electronic music duo consisting of brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha. They are best known for their debut 2016 single " Starving", with American singer Hailee Steinfeld and production work by Zedd, and " The Middle", a 2018 single in collaboration with Zedd and Maren Morris. They primarily produce music of the future bass genre. Background Brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha grew up in Fountain Valley, California. Kyle played guitar in a metal band before releasing original songs and remixes in electronic genres such as dubstep and electro house under the name Singularity from 2011 to 2014. He also had two releases under the name Kyle Tree in 2015 and 2016. In 2013, Michael started to learn how to produce music. Its remix features Snoop Dogg. The song was written by Savan Kotecha and Shellback, with production being handled by the latter.
