Walter Bailloch, also known as Walter Bailloch Stewart (1225/1230 – 1293/1294), was distinguished by the sobriquet ''Bailloch'' or ''Balloch'', a Goidelic languages, Gaelic nickname roughly translated as "the freckled". Walter Stewart, 3rd High Steward Of Scotland
Walter Steward of Dundonald (died 1246) was 3rd hereditary High Steward of Scotland and Justiciar of Scotia. He was the eldest son of Alan fitz Walter, 2nd High Steward of Scotland but which wife of Alan's was his mother is not clear. He was the first member of the House of Stuart to use Stewart as a surname, and was designated "of Dundonald". He witnessed a charter by King Alexander II, under the designation of "Walterus filius Alani, Senescallus, Justiciar Scotiae" and it may be that seal which Nisbet described pertaining to Walter Hereditary High Steward of Scotland. Around the seal it states "Sigill. Walteri filii Allani". Family Walter married Bethóc, daughter of Gille Críst, Earl of Angus by his wife, Marjorie, youngest daughter of Henry of Scotland, 3rd Earl of Huntingdon and his wife, Ada de Warenne. Walter Stewart, Earl Of Atholl
Walter Stewart, Earl of Atholl, Strathearn and Caithness (c. 1360 – 26 March 1437) was a Scottish nobleman, the son of Robert II of Scotland. Stewart advocated for the ransom and return to Scotland of the future king in exile, James I, in 1424. In 1425 he served as a member of the jury of 21 which tried and executed his nephew Murdoch Stewart, 2nd Duke of Albany. Eventually, however, Atholl turned against the King and conspired in his assassination in 1437. He was tried for murder and was executed after three days of torture. Early life Stewart was a son of Robert II of Scotland by his second wife Euphemia de Ross, daughter of Aodh, Earl of Ross. Walter Stewart (-1575), 3rd Laird of Baldorran, 2nd Bailie of Balquhidder, was a sixteenth-century Scottish landowner, and the ancestor of the Ardvorlich, Annat, and Glenfinglas Stewarts. Early life Walter Stewart was born about 1480 in Baldorran, Campsie, Stirlingshire, the third son of William Stewart, 2nd Laird Of Baldorran. His mother was Marion Helen Campbell of Glenorchy. Walter's father William Stewart of Baldorran was the founder of the Balquhidder Stewart clan. Bailie of the Crown Lands of Balquhidder Walter succeeded his father as Royal Baillie of Balquhidder. Walter Stewart (MP)
Walter Stewart (or Steward) was a Scottish courtier and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1624 to 1625. Life He was the third son of Walter Stewart, 1st Lord Blantyre. Stewart was admitted to Gray's Inn on 9 March 1620 when he was a Gentleman of the Privy Chamber to James I. In 1624, he was elected Member of Parliament for Monmouth Boroughs but was unseated on petition on 28 March 1624 on the objection that he was a "Scotchman" and not naturalised. However he was re-elected MP for Monmouth in 1625 without further question. Stewart is also said to have been a qualified doctor. He left England in 1649 for France, where he was court physician to Queen Henrietta Maria. He died in or by 1657. Walter Stewart (1756 – June 16, 1796) was an Irish-born American general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Stewart began his military career as captain of a Pennsylvania infantry company at the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. He served as an '' aide-de-camp'' to Horatio Gates for a year with the rank of major. Given command of the Pennsylvania State Regiment, which later became the 13th Pennsylvania Regiment, Stewart led his troops with distinction at Brandywine and Germantown in 1777. He was wounded while leading a detachment at the Battle of Monmouth in the summer of 1778. Despite Stewart's ability to cool tensions during the 1780 mutiny of the Connecticut Line, his regiment later became involved in the Pennsylvania Line Mutiny. He was married in Philadelphia in 1781 before going south with the army to fight in the decisive siege of Yorktown.
