Walter L. Carpeneti
Walter Louis "Bud" Carpeneti (born January 25, 1945) is an American lawyer and jurist, who served as the chief justice of the Alaska Supreme Court from 2009 to 2012. He attended Stanford University and Berkeley School of Law. A Californian, Carpeneti moved to Alaska to clerk for two earlier Alaska Supreme Court justices. Early life and education Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Carpeneti was the son of San Francisco Superior Court Judge Walter I. Carpeneti. After receiving an Bachelor of Arts in history from Stanford University in 1967 and a Juris Doctor from the UC Berkeley School of Law in 1970, the younger Carpeneti became a law clerk for Alaska Supreme Court Justices John H. Byron Mallott
Byron Ivar Mallott (April 6, 1943 – May 8, 2020) was an American politician, elder, tribal activist and business executive from the state of Alaska. Mallott was an Alaska Native leader of Tlingit heritage and the leader of the Kwaash Ké Kwaan clan. He was the 12th lieutenant governor of Alaska from December 2014 until his resignation on October 16, 2018. He also previously served as the mayor of Yakutat, the mayor of Juneau, the president of the Alaska Federation of Natives and the executive director of the Alaska Permanent Fund. Mallott was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Alaska in 2014, until he agreed to merge his campaign with that of independent candidate Bill Walker and become Walker's running mate. Jay Rabinowitz (jurist)
Jay Andrew Rabinowitz (February 25, 1927 – June 16, 2001) was an American lawyer, jurist, and chief justice of the Alaska Supreme Court for four non-consecutive terms, remaining active as a justice from February 1965 until his mandatory retirement in February 1997. During his time on the Alaska Supreme Court, Rabinowitz wrote more than 1,200 court opinions, 200 of them dissenting. Rabinowitz wrote landmark opinions in cases involving privacy, reproductive freedom, search and seizure, self-incrimination, free speech, and marijuana use.
