Walter Hendricks
Walter Hendricks (February 9, 1897 – June 17, 1982) was an American-born car dealer and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Nelson-Creston in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1949 to 1952 as a Liberal. He was born in Mullan, Idaho, the son of Robert Hendricks and Elizabeth Ann Thatcher. In 1917, Hendricks married Vera Evelyn McKinley. He was a Ford and Monarch dealer and served as president of the Nelson Board of Trade. Hendricks was also president of the Nelson Kiwanis. He served overseas during World War I. Hendricks served in the assembly as a member of a Liberal-Conservative coalition. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1952. Nelson-Creston
Nelson-Creston is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. It made its first appearance on the hustings in the general election of 1933 following a redistribution of the earlier Nelson riding. Historically, the riding was consistently held by the "free enterprise" party of the era. Until 1952, this alternated between the BC Liberals and the Coalition, while after the election in 1952, Social Credit won every election until the BC NDP victory in 1972. Since 1972, the NDP has won all but two elections: in the 1986 election, Social Credit won the riding along with many others in the Interior and in 2001, prominent NDP Cabinet minister Corky Evans was defeated in an election that saw all but two NDP MLAs suffer defeat. Mullan, Idaho
Mullan is a city in the northwest United States, located in the Silver Valley mining district of northern Idaho. The population was 646 at the 2020 census and 692 at the 2010 census, and 840 in 2000. In Shoshone County at the east end of the Silver Valley, Mullan is in a sheltered canyon of the Coeur d'Alene Mountains at an elevation of above sea level. The entrance to the Lucky Friday mine is several hundred yards east of the city center; the active mine (silver, lead, & zinc) descends more than below the surface. Mercury Monarch
The Mercury Monarch is a compact automobile that was marketed by the Mercury division of Ford from the 1975 to 1980 model years. Designed as the original successor for the Mercury Comet, the Monarch was marketed as a luxury compact vehicle; alongside its Ford Granada counterpart, the Monarch expanded the segment in the United States as automakers responded to the 1973 fuel crisis. Taking its name from a former marque of Ford Canada, the Mercury Monarch was slotted between the compact Comet and the Montego in the Mercury model line (later, the Zephyr and Cougar). Sharing many of its chassis underpinnings with the Comet, the Monarch marked the final evolution of the 1960-1965 Ford Falcon chassis architecture.
