Walt Disney Records Discography
This is a list of albums released by Walt Disney Records, including studio albums, soundtrack albums, compilation albums, and remix albums released by the label. Disney licensed its music to other labels from 1937 to 1956. The company started publishing its own music under Disneyland Records in 1956, eventually also adopting the Buena Vista label in 1959 for albums aimed at a slightly more adult audience and price-point (such as music from their live-action Westerns). In 1989, Disneyland Records was renamed to its current branding, Walt Disney Records. So Dear To My Heart
''So Dear to My Heart'' is a 1948 American live-action/animated film produced by Walt Disney and released by RKO Radio Pictures. Its world premiere was in Chicago, Illinois, on November 29, 1948. Like 1946's ''Song of the South'', the film combines animation and live action. It is based on the 1943 Sterling North book ''Midnight and Jeremiah''. The book was revised by North to parallel the film's storyline amendments and then re-issued under the same title as the film. The film was a personal favorite of Walt Disney, since it re-created on film one of the most memorable times of his life, growing up on a small farm in the American Midwest at the turn of the twentieth century. ''Pollyanna'' is a 1960 American comedy-drama film starring child actress Hayley Mills, Jane Wyman, Karl Malden, and Richard Egan in a story about a cheerful orphan changing the outlook of a small town. George Bruns
George Edward Bruns (July 3, 1914 – May 23, 1983) was an American composer of music for film and television. His accolades include four Academy Award nominations, and three Grammy Award nominations. He is mainly known for his compositions for numerous Disney films spanning from the 1950s until the 1970s, among them ''Sleeping Beauty'' (1959), ''One Hundred and One Dalmatians'', ''The Absent-Minded Professor'' (both 1961), '' The Sword in the Stone'' (1963), ''The Jungle Book'' (1967), ''The Love Bug'' (1968), ''The Aristocats'' (1970), and ''Robin Hood'' (1973). A native of Sandy, Oregon, Bruns began playing piano at age six. Little Nipper
The Little Nipper series was an RCA Victor series of records aimed at children first issued in 1944 on 78 RPM, and then on 45 RPM in the 1950s. In the 1950s, Little Nipper was especially used for "extended play" albums featuring only four or five songs. The Disney Studio released several short albums derived from their hit films, both musical and dramatic, on the "Little Nipper" series. These were two-record albums accompanied by a booklet slipcover featuring the spoken text of the album so that the young listener could follow along. Sometimes several selections from a Broadway cast album would be featured on ''Little Nipper'' albums, especially one which children would enjoy. Book-and-record sets are a form of entertainment for children, consisting of a picture storybook (often in comic book format, with drawings or photos) and an accompanying recording (originally in the form of a vinyl record; later in cassette tape and compact disc formats) to be played while following along with the book.
