''Walt Disney's Timeless Tales'' is a series of DVDs by Walt Disney Home Entertainment. Each release features around one-hour of ''Disney'' animated short films featuring classic fairy tale adaptations. In contrast to the chronological nature of the ''Walt Disney Treasures'' line, each release includes cartoons in no particular order. Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Inc., doing business as Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, is the home entertainment distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company. The division handles the distribution of Disney's films, television series, and other audiovisual content across several home media formats, such as Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray discs, DVDs, and digital media, under various brand labels around the world. The division was legally incorporated as Buena Vista Home Video in March 1988. It was renamed to its current legal name in 1997. Ferdinand The Bull (film)
''Ferdinand the Bull'' is a 1938 American stand-alone animated short produced by Walt Disney Productions and released on November 25, 1938 by RKO Radio Pictures. It was directed by Dick Rickard and based on the 1936 book ''The Story of Ferdinand'' by Munro Leaf. The music was by Albert Hay Malotte, most known for his setting of The Lord's Prayer, commonly sung at weddings. It was remade in 2017 by Blue Sky Studios with John Cena as the titular bull. Plot The scene starts with many bulls, romping together and butting their heads, however, Ferdinand is different; all he wants to do all day is go under a shady cork tree and smell the flowers. ''Ben and Me'' is a 1953 American animated two-reel short subject produced by Walt Disney Productions and released theatrically on November 10, 1953. It was adapted from the children's book written by author/illustrator Robert Lawson and first published in 1939. Though both book and film deal with the relationship between a mouse and American Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, the book, with illustrations by Lawson, focused more heavily on actual historical events and personages, and included incidents from Franklin's French career at Versailles. The short received an Academy Award nomination for Best Short Subject, Two-reel. This short was also notable for being the second release on the Buena Vista Distribution label, with the first being ''Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom'', released on the same day. ''The Golden Touch'' is a Walt Disney Silly Symphony cartoon made in 1935. The story is based on the Greek myth of King Midas, albeit updated into a Medieval setting. Plot The extremely rich King Midas never cares for women nor wine, and he never gets enough of his gold, wishing that one day, everything he touched would turn to gold. An elf named Goldie appears beside him and offers him the Golden Touch, demonstrating its magical powers by turning Midas’s cat to gold, and then clapping his hands and snapping his fingers to change it back. Midas tries to offer everything he owns in exchange, but he is warned by Goldie that the Golden Touch will prove a golden curse. Midas derides this by exclaiming, "Fiddlesticks! Give me gold! Not advice!" So Goldie gives him the Golden Touch. At first, Midas is happy with his newfound power. He turns his cat and several things in his garden to gold. The Wise Little Hen
''The Wise Little Hen'' is a 1934 Walt Disney's ''Silly Symphony'' cartoon, based on the fable ''The Little Red Hen''. The cartoon features the debut of Donald Duck, dancing to the Sailor's Hornpipe. Donald and his friend Peter Pig try to avoid work by faking stomach aches until Mrs. Hen teaches them the value of labor. Though distributor United Artists gave June 9, 1934 as the cartoon's release date, it was actually first shown on May 3, 1934 at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles for a benefit program, while it was later given its official debut on June 7 at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. It was animated by Art Babbitt, Dick Huemer, Clyde Geronimi, Louie Schmitt, and Frenchy de Tremaudan (with assistance from a group of junior animators headed by Ben Sharpsteen) and directed by Wilfred Jackson. ''Little Hiawatha'' (also called ''Hiawatha'') is a 1937 animated cartoon produced by Walt Disney Productions, inspired by the poem ''The Song of Hiawatha'' by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. It does not appear to have historical correlation to legendary Mohawk leader and peacemaker Hiawatha. It is the last ''Silly Symphonies'' short to be released by United Artists. Plot Over opening narration, a Native American boy named Little Hiawatha is seen paddling his canoe down a river – at one point backwards – on his way to hunt game. ''Make Mine Music'' is a 1946 American animated musical anthology film produced by Walt Disney and released by RKO Radio Pictures. It is the eighth Disney feature animated film, released on April 20, 1946. During World War II, much of Walt Disney's staff was drafted into the army, and those that remained were called upon by the U.S. government to make training and propaganda films. As a result, the studio was littered with unfinished story ideas. ''The Country Cousin'' is a Walt Disney animated short film released on October 31, 1936 by United Artists. The winner of an Oscar at the 9th Academy Awards for Best Animated Short Film, the film was produced by Walt Disney, directed by Wilfred Jackson, and animated by Art Babbitt and Les Clark. As is true for most cartoons in the ''Silly Symphonies'' series, ''The Country Cousin'' was built around a musical score, which was written by Leigh Harline.
