The Wallaceburg Satans are the first Canadian men's senior semi-professional box lacrosse team to play in the Box Lacrosse League. The Satans play their home games out of the "Wonder on Wall St." Wallaceburg Memorial Arena in Wallaceburg, Ontario. Wallaceburg
Wallaceburg ( 2016 population 10,098) is an unincorporated community in the municipality of Chatham-Kent in Southern (Southwestern) Ontario, Canada. Originally a small settlement, it was recognized for its significant contribution to the lumber and boat building industries and strategic location along the banks of the scenic Sydenham River. In more recent years, 1895–1999, the town was known for its glass making industry. For that reason, Wallaceburg is locally known as the "glass town of Canada." Wallaceburg is the home of WAMBO (Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing), an annual antique car, boat, bus, and fire truck show that began in 1988. Box Lacrosse League
The Box Lacrosse League (BLL) was a senior men's semi-professional box lacrosse league in the United States. In its final year, the league consisted of five teams with a geographical footprint centered on the Midwest region of the United States and Ontario. Formerly known as Midwest Indoor Lacrosse Association (MILA), the league was renamed the Continental Indoor Lacrosse League due to expansion teams outside of the Midwest region in March 2013. The league again changed its name in 2017 to Box Lacrosse League, citing the new commitment to following guidelines set by USBOXLA. The league ceased operations after the 2017 season. Box Lacrosse
Box lacrosse, also known as boxla, box, or indoor lacrosse, is an indoor version of lacrosse played mostly in North America. The game originated in Canada in the 1930s, where it is more popular than field lacrosse. Lacrosse is Canada's official national summer sport. Box lacrosse is played between two teams of five players and one goalie each, and is traditionally played on an ice hockey rink once the ice has been removed or covered. The playing area is called a box, in contrast to the open playing field of field lacrosse. The Chicago Outlaws are a senior semi-professional box lacrosse team in the Box Lacrosse League. The Outlaws presently play at the Salt Creek Sports Center in Palatine, Illinois. Walpole Island is an island and First Nation reserve in southwestern Ontario, Canada, on the border between Ontario and Michigan in the United States. It is located in the mouth of the St. Clair River on Lake St. Clair, about by road from Windsor, Ontario and from Detroit, Michigan. Petrolia is a town in southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is part of Lambton County and is surrounded by Enniskillen Township. Tupperville is a community on the Sydenham River in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada and has a population of approx. 300 people. Sarnia is a city in Lambton County, Ontario, Canada. It had a 2021 population of 72,047, and is the largest city on Lake Huron.
