Walk Away (Cool For August Song)
''Grand World'' is the debut and only full-length album released by the band Cool for August. Released in 1997, it spawned three rock radio singles, and two videos (for "Don't Wanna Be Here", and "Walk Away"). The track "Big Night" is a cover of American Music Club's song from their 1987 album ''Engine''. Cool for August's version features guest vocals from American Music Club's Mark Eitzel, and pedal steel from AMC's Bruce Kaphan. Cool For August
Cool for August was a rock band consisting of notable Canadian singer-songwriter Shad Hills on guitar, Andrew Shives on bass, Gordon Vaughn on vocals, Trevor Kustiak on guitar, and Shane Hills on drums who was then replaced by Larry Voss in the spring of 2000. They made their television debut on ''Late Night with Conan O'Brien'' with their hit song "Trials". While it was not their highest-charting single, "Walk Away" was considered their most accessible song and received its own single in stores. The band resurfaced a few years later in 2001 (after long speculation that the band had broken up) with an online single "Say it isn't So". The band added bandmate Chris Harris, guitar and violin, and completed a demo of six songs (produced by Jeff Tomei and Joey Huffman), about half of an anticipated upcoming album. American Music Club was an American, San Francisco-based indie rock band, led by singer-songwriter Mark Eitzel. Formed in 1983, the band released seven albums before splitting up in 1995. They reformed in 2003 and released two further albums. Mark Eitzel (born January 30, 1959) is an American musician, best known as a songwriter and lead singer of the San Francisco band American Music Club. Biography Eitzel spent his formative years in a military family living in Okinawa, Taiwan, Ohio and the United Kingdom. He moved to America in 1979, and came out as gay in 1985. He started making music while he was a teenager in Southampton, England. His first band was a punk band called the Cowboys when he moved to Columbus, Ohio, at 19. They released one single in 1980. His second band was called The Naked Skinnies and they released one single in 1981. He moved to San Francisco with The Naked Skinnies in 1981 where they disbanded in 1982.
