Wales At The 2006 Commonwealth Games
The squad to represent Wales at the 2006 Commonwealth Games was announced by the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales (CGCW) on 22 February 2006. It consisted of 143 athletes (63 Women and 80 men) competing across 14 sports; 85 fewer than the squad in 2002. The team was not able to improve on their medal tally from the 2002 Commonwealth Games when Wales won 6 Gold, 13 Silver and 12 Bronze medals. The team was captained by Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson. Wales ( cy, Cymru ) is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. David Davies (swimmer)
David Michael Rhys Davies (born 3 March 1985) is a Welsh former competitive swimmer who has represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games, and swam for Great Britain at Summer Olympics, world championships and European championships, winning medals in each of those major international championships. Davies specialised in long-distance freestyle and open water events. Born in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Davies swam for Wales at the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games and represented Great Britain at the 2004, 2008 Olympics and 2012 Olympics. Hayley Tullett (née Parry, born 17 February 1973) is a Welsh former middle distance runner who mainly competed over 1500 metres. Robert Weale
Robert Arthur Weale (born in Hereford on 3 April 1963), is a Welsh international lawn and indoor bowls player. Weale is originally from Presteigne and was educated at John Beddoes School, but now lives in Hereford. In 2022, he was inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of fame. Bowls career Weale made his international debut in 1982. He was the youngest competitor in the 1984 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Aberdeen, where he competed in the triples event. World Titles Weale's career-best performance came in January 2000, when he won the 2000 World Indoor Bowls Championship singles title at Potters. Julie Crane (born 1976) is a former British track and field athlete who specialised in the high jump. She won a Silver medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Crane was born in Nottingham but represented Wales and Sale Harriers. Crane graduated from the University of Birmingham with an MSc in Mathematical Sciences in 1999.
