Darryl Wakelin (born 11 August 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda and Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League as a defender. AFL career Adelaide Wakelin was selected by Adelaide with the 11th pick in the 1993 Pre-Season draft. After 2 seasons on their list he didn't play a senior game and was delisted at the end of 1994. St Kilda In 1994 he played in a premiership with the Magpies league team, winning the Jack Oatey Medal for best afield in the absence of his twin brother, Shane, who had already left for St Kilda. Wakelin was the first player from the "key defensive" positions of centre half-back or full-back to win the award. In 1995, Darryl left the club to join his brother at St Kilda. Barry Wakelin
Barry Hugh Wakelin (born 7 May 1946) is an Australian politician, who was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives from March 1993 until November 2007, representing the Division of Grey, South Australia. He was born in Kimba, South Australia, and was a farmer and small businessman before entering politics. In 1993, he stood as the Liberal candidate in Grey, historically one of the few country seats where Labor consistently did well. He became only the fifth non-Labor member ever to win it, and the second in 50 years. While Wakelin's win was and still is considered an upset, the election came at a very bad time for Labor in South Australia. The incumbent state Labor government was still reeling from the collapse of the State Bank of South Australia, and would be heavily defeated at the state election held later in 1993. Chris Wakelin (born 16 March 1992) is an English professional snooker player from Rugby, Warwickshire. He practices in Bar 8 in Rugby. Career Early career Wakelin started playing snooker aged 8, when his parents Mark and Angie bought him his first mini snooker table, and by the time he was 11 he was successfully playing in the local league. However, his career nearly came to a halt at the age of 17 when he had to start working full-time as an ASDA delivery driver to support himself financially, and only played snooker as a hobby. Career Wakelin had his first outings in clubs in his hometown but without big success. Roland Wakelin (17 April 1887 – 28 May 1971) was a New Zealand-born Australian painter and teacher. Early life Roland Shakespeare Wakelin was born on 17 April 1887 in Greytown, New Zealand. He studied at Wellington Technical School from 1902 to 1903. Shortly after, while working in the Land and Income Tax Department, he took night classes in painting under Henri Bastings.
