WPLJ
WPLJ (95.5 FM) is a non-commercial, listener-supported radio station, licensed to New York, New York. Owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), based in Franklin, Tennessee, it broadcasts EMF's Christian adult contemporary formatted programming service, "K-Love". WPLJ is a Class B FM station, with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,700 watts, transmitting from atop the Empire State Building in Midtown Manhattan. WPLJ broadcasts on several HD Radio digital subchannels in addition to its analog transmission. It is also heard on three FM translators around the New York metropolitan area, including 94.3 MHz in Pomona, 94.9 in Hauppauge and 104.5 in Selden. Four Deuces
The Four Deuces were an American rhythm and blues vocal quartet, formed in the mid-1950s in Salinas, California. The band was started by lead singer Luther McDaniel, and recorded several songs before they broke up around 1957. While active, the Four Deuces had moderate but short-lived popularity, mainly along the West Coast, mostly due to the frequent radio airplay of their hit song, "W-P-L-J". History The band was formed when Luther McDaniel and a group of army friends from Fort Ord got together and began to sing gospel songs. They soon moved to rhythm and blues, and began to look for a record deal. Moving to San Francisco, the band came into contact with Ray Dobard and his company, Music City Records. WARW (FM)
WARW is a Christian worship formatted radio station, licensed to Port Chester, New York, and is the Air 1 radio affiliate for Westchester County and the Connecticut Panhandle. The station is owned by Educational Media Foundation and its transmitter is located in New Rochelle, New York. History WARW went on the air in 1947 as WSTC-FM licensed to Stamford, Connecticut, and simulcasting WSTC. On February 19, 1974, the call letters were changed to WYRS and the station began programming an automated beautiful music format aimed at women using the moniker "Yours 96.7". At 6:00 p.m. on September 2, 1980 WYRS switched to a jazz format after WRVR in New York City had switched formats from jazz to country music. WRDR (89.7 FM, "Bridge FM") is a radio station broadcasting a Christian radio format. Licensed to Freehold Township, New Jersey, it serves the New York metropolitan area. The station is owned by Bridgelight, LLC. Bridgelight, LLC was created as a counterpart to Christian denomination Calvary Chapel Old Bridge. HD Radio (HDR) is a trademark for in-band on-channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcast technology. HD radio generally simulcast, simulcasts an existing analog radio station in digital format with less noise and with additional text information.
