WKRA-FM (92.7 MHz) and WKRA (1110 kHz) are commercial radio stations licensed to Holly Springs, Mississippi and serving the Memphis metropolitan area. They are owned by Billy R. Autry, and they simulcast an urban gospel radio format with some Christian talk and teaching programs. The radio studios and offices are on Memphis Street in Holly Springs. WKRA-am is powered at 1,000 watts non-directional. But because AM 1110 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A WBT in Charlotte, North Carolina, WKRA is a daytimer. It must sign off at night to avoid interference. WKRA-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 3,000 watts and broadcasts around the clock. Holly Springs, Mississippi
Holly Springs is a city in, and the county seat of, Marshall County, Mississippi, United States, near the southern border of Tennessee. Near the Mississippi Delta, the area was developed by European Americans for cotton plantations and was dependent on enslaved Africans. After the Civil War, many freedmen continued to work in agriculture as sharecroppers and tenant farmers. As the county seat, the city is a center of trade and court sessions. The population was 7,699 at the 2010 census, which, compared to the 2000 census, was a decrease. Effective radiated power (ERP), synonymous with equivalent radiated power, is an IEEE standardized definition of directional radio frequency (RF) power, such as that emitted by a radio transmitter. WBT (1110 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station serving the Charlotte metropolitan area, including parts of North Carolina and South Carolina. First licensed on March 18, 1922, it is one of America's first radio stations. The station airs a news/talk radio format simulcast on WBT-FM (99.3) and the HD2 digital subchannel of co-owned WLNK.
