WFRA
WFRA is an American radio station, licensed to Franklin, Pennsylvania; the seat of government for Venango County, Pennsylvania. WFRA broadcasts at the assigned frequency of 1450 kHz at a full-time power of a thousand watts. WFRA is owned by Forever Broadcasting, LLC; which also owns its primary programming vehicle, the Allegheny News Talk Sports Network. History WFRA went on the air in 1958, three years after the debut of its affiliate station, WTIV in Titusville, about 15 miles north of Franklin just north of the Crawford-Venango County border. Though within close proximity of each other, owner and founder Robert H. Sauber was allowed to put another AM station on the air because the two stations were in separate counties, thus meeting more stringent FCC ownership limits at the time. WOYL
WOYL was an American radio station, licensed to the community of Oil City, Pennsylvania. WOYL operated at the assigned frequency of 1340 kHz and a full-time output power of a thousand watts. WOYL signed off December 27, 2009, due to major technical difficulties; though the station acquired a special temporary extension that allowed the station to remain silent until June 2010, it was ultimately decided to return the WOYL license to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Though licensed to Oil City, some programming, sales and administrative functions did not originate out of Oil City, but rather Meadville, Pennsylvania, the headquarters of Forever Broadcasting's other northwest Pennsylvania broadcast properties. WMGW (1490 AM) is a commercial radio station in Meadville, Pennsylvania, the seat of government for Crawford County. WMGW is the flagship station of the "Allegheny News-Talk-Sports Network," also owned by its licensee, Seven Mountains Media. The station is owned by Seven Mountains Media, and broadcasts from the Downtown Mall in Meadville. History Beginnings as WVEN-FM This station debuted on 99.3 as WVEN-FM on March 5, 1971, as a partial simulcast of AM parent WFRA, with occasional break-aways for its own original programming that closely mirrored WFRA, usually during periods of the broadcast day when WFRA offered talk and news-intensive programming. Though licensed to Titusville, programming, sales and administrative functions originate out of Meadville, Pennsylvania. Venango County, Pennsylvania
Venango County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 50,454. Its county seat is Franklin. The county was created in 1800 and later organized in 1805. Venango County comprises the Oil City, PA micropolitan statistical area. It is part of the Pittsburgh media market. History Shortly afterward, Rogers met oil pioneer Charles Pratt, who purchased the entire output of the tiny Wamsutta Oil Refinery. In 1867, Rogers joined Pratt in forming Charles Pratt and Company, which was purchased by Standard Oil in 1874. Rogers became one of the key men in John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Trust. Venango County was created on March 12, 1800, from parts of Allegheny and Lycoming Counties. The name "Venango" is derived from the Native American name of the region, ''Onenge'', meaning ''Otter.'' Meadville is a city in and the county seat of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The city is within of Erie and within of Pittsburgh. It was the first permanent settlement in Northwestern Pennsylvania.
