Víctor Víctor Mesa
Víctor Víctor Mesa Ríos (born July 20, 1996) is a Cuban professional baseball outfielder in the Miami Marlins organization. Career Mesa played in the Cuban National Series for Matanzas from 2012 through 2017, and for Industriales in the 2017–18 season. Mesa played for the Cuban national team at the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Mesa and his younger brother, Víctor Mesa Jr., defected from Cuba in 2018. On October 22, 2018, Mesa and his brother Víctor Jr. signed with the Miami Marlins. Mesa received a $5.25 million signing bonus. He began 2019 with the Jupiter Hammerheads, and was promoted to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on July 30. Between the two levels, Mesa hit a combined .235/.274/.263/.537 with no home runs and 29 runs batted in. Following the 2019 season Mesa played for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is an off-season sports league owned and operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) which operates during the autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. Arizona Fall League rosters are filled by many of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) who are assigned by their parent clubs. Structure The six teams of the AFL are organized in two three-team divisions. Each AFL team is affiliated with five teams in Major League Baseball (MLB), and each MLB team provides seven players from their Minor League Baseball affiliates, yielding 35-man rosters. The Gwinnett Stripers are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League (IL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. They play their home games at Coolray Field in unincorporated Gwinnett County, Georgia (with a Lawrenceville address) in suburban Atlanta, Georgia. The Salt River Rafters are a baseball team that plays in the East Division of the Arizona Fall League. They play their home games at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick near Scottsdale, Arizona. A run batted in (RBI; plural RBIs ) is a statistic in baseball and softball that credits a batter for making a play that allows a run to be scored (except in certain situations such as when an error is made on the play). The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League (IL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. They are located in Jacksonville, Florida, and are named for shrimp caught in the area. The team plays their home games at 121 Financial Ballpark, which opened in 2003. They previously played at Sam W. Wolfson Baseball Park from 1962 until the end of the 2002 season.
