Værløse Municipality
Værløse was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') consisting of only ''one'' parish also named Værløse in the former Copenhagen County on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 34 km2, and in 2005 had a total population of 18,649. Its last mayor was Jesper Bach, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. He was the first mayor of the newly formed Furesø municipality. The community is connected by a road and a motorway and commuter railway to Farum to the north via an isthmus at Fiskebæk between Lake Farum sø and Lake Furesø. The road and motorway run through a small forest on the western shore of Lake Furesø and is almost out of sight and hearing distance from nearby homes in Værløse, but north of the isthmus they run through the town of Farum, separating it in a western and eastern part. Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Hareskovby
Hareskovby, or Hareskov By, is a small suburb to Copenhagen, Denmark, located just south and west of Hareskoven, one of the largest forested areas in the city's northern suburbs. It straddles the border between Furesø and Herlev municipalities and the contiguously built-up area extends into Gladsaxe and Ballerup municipalities, though these areas are not called Hareskov or Hareskovby. History The area was known as Lille Værløse Overdrev (Little Værløse Meadows) prior to the opening of Hareskov station on the new Slangerup Line in 1907. The first houses and the Hareskov Pavilion were built shortly thereafter and a thriving town developed over the next few decades. The Capital Region of Denmark ( da, Region Hovedstaden, ) is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities and a regional council consisting of 41 elected members. As of 1 August 2021 the chairperson is Lars Gaardhøj, who is a member of the Social Democrats party of Denmark. The Capital Region was established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. This reform abolished the traditional counties (Danish plural: , singular: ) and created five regions. Søllerød
Søllerød is a suburban district of Rudersdal Municipality in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. The original village, one of the oldest in the area, is perched on Søllerød Hill on the south side of Søllerød Lake. It merged with the neighbouring village of Øverød to the north and the modern district of Holte to the southwest in the middle of the 20th century and now forms part of the Greater Copenhagen area. Most of the local landmarks are concentrated in a well-preserved village environment centred on the old village pond and on Søllerødvej (Søllerød Road). Gladsaxe
Gladsaxe Kommune is a municipality (Danish, ''Commune (subnational entity), kommune'') near Copenhagen in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a total population of 69,681 (2019). Its mayor is Trine Græse, a member of the Social Democrats (Denmark), Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') Politics of Denmark, political party. The site of its municipal council is the town of Buddinge. Herlev
Herlev is a suburb about 9 km northwest of Copenhagen city centre. It is the site of the municipal council of Herlev Municipality, Denmark. Sports Herlev is the hometown of former Vancouver Canuck Jannik Hansen. Herlev is known for its hockey team, the Herlev Hornets. Attractions Herlev Hospital is in height. It is famous for being Denmark's tallest building and the fifth tallest hospital in the world. Its modern, functional architecture in bright concrete, glass and bronze-coloured aluminium gives a unique impression. Construction began in 1965 and the hospital was finished in 1975. Ballerup
Ballerup is a Danish town, seat of the Ballerup Municipality, in the Region Hovedstaden. There are approximately 25 schools in Ballerup Municipality. Ballerup has its own educational institution specialized in the study, training and research of music. It is twinned with East Kilbride in Scotland. Farum Municipality
Farum municipality was a municipality (Danish '' kommune'') in the northeast of the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. On January 1, 2007 it merged with Værløse municipality to form the new Furesø municipality as a consequence of Denmark's Municipal Reform. Geography The municipality had a population of 18,662 (2005), covered an area of 23 km², and was, according to size, the smallest municipality of Frederiksborg County. The main town and the site of its municipal council was Farum. Other villages were Bregnerød and Stavnsholt. Jonstrup
Jonstrup is a suburban neighbourhood situated in Furesø Municipality on the west side of Hareskoven forest in the northwestern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. The original village has merged with the neighbouring villages of Måløv in Ballerup Municipality and Smørumnedre in Egedal Municipality to form an urban agglomeration with a population of 20,657 (2022). The neighbourhood is separated from Måløv by Mølledalen, Møllemosen, and Værebro å. History A textile factory was built in the village in the middle of the 18th century. It was destroyed in a fire in 1778 but reopened after being rebuilt in 1781. In 1809, it was converted into a teachers' academy, Jonstrup Seminarium, which moved to new premises in Kongens Lyngby in 1955.
