Västra Götaland County East (Riksdag Constituency)
Västra Götaland County East ( sv, Västra Götalands Läns Östra) is one of the 29 multi-member constituencies of the Riksdag, the national legislature of Sweden. The constituency was established as Skaraborg County in 1970 when the Riksdag changed from a bicameral legislature to a unicameral legislature. It was renamed Västra Götaland County East in 1998 when the counties of Älvsborg, Gothenburg and Bohus and Skaraborg were merged to create Västra Götaland. The constituency currently consists of the municipalities of Essunga, Falköping, Götene, Grästorp, Gullspång, Hjo, Karlsborg, Lidköping, Mariestad, Skara, Skövde, Tibro, Tidaholm, Töreboda and Vara. The constituency currently elects eight of the 349 members of the Riksdag using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. The Riksdag (, ; also sv, riksdagen or ''Sveriges riksdag'' ) is the legislature and the supreme decision-making body of Sweden. Since 1971, the Riksdag has been a unicameral legislature with 349 members (), elected proportionally and serving, since 1994, fixed four-year terms. The counties of Sweden (Swedish: ''Sveriges län'') are the top-level geographic subdivisions of Sweden. Sweden is today divided into 21 counties; however, the number of counties has varied over time, due to territorial gains/losses and to divisions and/or mergers of existing counties. This level of administrative unit was first established in the 1634 Instrument of Government on Lord Chancellor Count Axel Oxenstierna's initiative, and superseded the historical provinces of Sweden ( sv, landskap) in order to introduce a more efficient administration of the realm. Ulrika Heie
Ulrika Carlsson (born 17 April 1965) is a Swedish Centre Party politician. She has been a member of the Riksdag since 2006 and is elected from the constituency of Västra Götaland County East. Ulrika is the Swedish Centre Partys spokesperson at educational affairs and is a former teacher herself. Between 2006 and 2010 she was a member of the parliamentary committee on education, and substitute in the committee of foreign affairs. Today she's sitting in the education committee as well as being substitute in both the foreign affairs committee and the Executive Board of Parliament. She's also a member of the War Delegation. Ulrika is also the deputy house leader for the party, in the Riksdag.
