The Västerbottens Fotbollförbund ''(Västerbotten Football Association)'' is one of the 24 district organisations of the Swedish Football Association. It administers lower tier football in Västerbotten County. Background Västerbottens Fotbollförbund, commonly referred to as Västerbottens FF, is the governing body for football in the historical province of Västerbotten, which largely corresponds with present day Västerbotten County. The Association was founded on 16 March 1924 and currently has 135 member clubs. Based in Skellefteå, the Association's Chairman is Magnus Stenberg. Skellefteå
Skellefteå (, locally ) is a city in Västerbotten County, Sweden. It is the seat of Skellefteå Municipality, which had 73,246 inhabitants in 2021. The city is historically industrial, with mining being a large part of that industry, especially for gold, leading to the city being nicknamed ''Guldstaden'' ("gold town"). Politically, Skellefteå is a Social Democratic stronghold. The city is a well-known ice hockey town, with its main team Skellefteå AIK playing in the Swedish top division: the SHL, which they have won on several occasions; most recently in 2014. The city was incorporated in 1845 and grew to its current population size in the 1950s and 1960s, growing only slowly since. It is the second largest city in Västerbotten after Umeå and is located roughly halfway between it and Luleå. The District Football Associations are the local governing bodies of association football in Sweden. District FAs exist to govern all aspects of local football in their defined areas, providing grassroots support to the Swedish Football Association by promoting and administering football, futsal and beach soccer in their respective districts. Division 6 (Amateur league) is the eighth (due to sponsorship reason) level in the league system of Swedish football and comprises 78 sections with 5 to 12 football teams in each. The competition There are 100 groups of 15 to 17 teams each representing a local geographical area. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents, for a total of 18 to 22 games depending on the number of teams. The top team in each Division 6 group is promoted to Division 5. The bottom two teams in each Division 6 group are normally relegated to Division 7.
