Jokkmokk Municipality
Jokkmokk Municipality (, fi, Jokimukan kunta, se, Johkamohkki gielda, fit, Jokinmukka) is a municipality in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. Its seat is located in Jokkmokk. The name ''Jokkmokk'' is Sami for the words "river" and "bend", since the town is situated close to a bend in the nearby river. It's Sweden's poorest municipality. The municipality is the second largest in area of all Swedish municipalities and is, with an area of 19,477 km2 (approximately 7,520 square miles) slightly smaller than Slovenia or the US state of New Jersey. It has never been amalgamated with another entity, having been that large ever since municipalities were established in Sweden in 1863. Jakob Hellman
Jakob Hellman (born 20 October 1965) is a Swedish pop singer. His debut album, '' ...och stora havet'', released in 1989, was his only release for 32 years. He released his second album, ''Äntligen borta'', on 8 January 2021. He is still a well-known figure in Swedish music. Background The son of two teachers, Jakob Hellman grew up in rural north Sweden, just south of the polar circle. In school, he was in the same class as Zemya Hamilton, later to be known as the lead singer of house music act Clubland. In the lyrics of his first single, Hellman states that he was "born between the mirror and the grammophone" ("''född mellan spegeln och grammofon''"), attesting to his early pop star ambitions. Lars-Göran Birger Nilsson (born 9 March 1944) is a retired professional ice hockey player who played in the Elitserien for Brynäs IF. Birgitta Svendén
Birgitta Svendén (née Lundberg, 20 March 1952), is a Swedish operatic mezzo-soprano. Svendén was born in Porjus and then raised in Vuollerim. She studied at Operahögskolan in Stockholm, and later embarked on an international career in the first place as a Wagner singer, especially at the Bayreuth Festival where she sang several performances between 1983 and 1999, many of those as Erda. She was also a frequent guest at the Metropolitan Opera in New York between 1988 and 2000. Her artistic base remained at the Royal Swedish Opera where she was contracted from 1981 to 2004. Birgitta Svendén was appointed hovsångerska in 1995. She is also a full member of the Academy of Music and an honorary doctor at the Lulea University of Technology. Jokkmokks-Jokke
Bengt Djupbäck, better known as Jokkmokks-Jokke (20 May 1915 – 15 June 1998), was a Swedish musician who had his greatest successes during the 1960s–70s. He was born in the small village of Porsi in Jokkmokk Municipality as Bengt Simon Johansson, but changed his surname to Djupbäck in 1974. After he had been working as a railway navvy as well as a woodman, Jokkmokks-Jokke travelled to Stockholm to begin his career as a musician in 1954, and at the same time his friend gave Jokkmokks-Jokke his stage name. In Stockholm he was discovered by Topsy Lindholm, the manager of the entertainment establishment ''Nationalpalatset'' a.k.a. ''Nalen'', where Jokkmokks-Jokke's Sami clothing was an exotic feature in the Swedish capital. In 1963, Jokkmokks-Jokke composed the song "Gulli-Gullan", which became his greatest hit ever, and which is also the song that most people remember him for.
