Vukov Sabor
Vukov sabor ( sr, Вуков сабор, Vukov sabor), also known as Vuk's Convocation or Vuk's Fair, is the oldest and most massive cultural event in Serbia. It was named after the reformer of the Serbian language Vuk Karadžić. The central program is traditionally held in September in Vuk's birthplace Tršić, near Loznica. Part of the program is realized in Loznica, Belgrade and the nearby Tronoša Monastery. The manifestation was registered in the National Registrar of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Serbia on June 18, 2012. History The first Vukov sabor was held in 1933 and, in following years, Vukov sabor wasn't held only in 1941 and 1944 due to World War II. Loznica ( sr-cyrl, Лозница, ) is a List of cities in Serbia, city located in the Mačva District of western Serbia. It lies on the right bank of the Drina river. In 2011 the city had a total population of 19,572, while the administrative area had a population of 79,327. Its name stems from the word "loza" (the Serbian language, Serbian word for ''vine''). Aleksandar Vučić ( sr-Cyrl, Александар Вучић, ; born 5 March 1970) is a Serbian politician serving as the president of Serbia since 2017, and as the president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) since 2012. Dušan Kovačević ( sr-Cyrl, Душан Ковачевић, ; born 12 July 1948) is a Serbian playwright, scriptwriter, film director and academic best known for his theatre plays and movie scripts. He also served as the ambassador of Serbia in Lisbon, Portugal. Biography Kovačević was born in Mrđenovac near Šabac, PR Serbia, FPR Yugoslavia, graduated from Gymnasium Svetozar Marković, Svetozar Marković Gymnasium in Novi Sad, and received a bachelor's degree in dramaturgy from the University of Belgrade in 1973.
