Vukomeričke Gorice
Vukomeričke gorice ( en, Vukomerić Hills) or Vrhovje, is a wooded low mountain range in Zagreb County, central Croatia. It is located on southwestern border of Turopolje region and up to 255 metres high. The name of the mountains comes from the village Vukomerić which got its name from Vukomer, leader of Vukota tribe that once lived in this area. The area was settled since ancient times due to marshes surrounding it. Viticulture and fruit-growing are most important activities. The Croatian state forestry company ''Hrvatske šume'' monitors the forests of Vukomeričke gorice. The most common trees are various species of oak, beech, and hornbeam Hornbeams are hardwood trees in the flowering plant genus ''Carpinus'' in the birch family Betulaceae. Zagreb County
Zagreb County ( hr, Zagrebačka županija) is a county in Northern Croatia. It surrounds, but does not contain, the nation's capital Zagreb, which is a separate territorial unit. For that reason, the county is often nicknamed "Zagreb ring" ( hr, zagrebački prsten). Turopolje
Turopolje () is a region in Croatia situated between the capital city Zagreb and Sisak. The administrative center of the region Turopolje is the town of Velika Gorica. Geography Turopolje forms a part of Posavina, a region to the south of Zagreb bordering the right banks of the Sava river on the east, and the Vukomericke Gorice hills to the southwest. It extends across an alluvial plain 45 km in length and up to 23 km in width. The area of the region occupies an area of about 600 km2, with an average elevation of 110 m above sea level. Turopolje is divided into two halves by the river Odra and its tributary Lomnica. Beech
Beech (''Fagus'') is a genus of deciduous trees in the family Fagaceae, native to temperate Europe, Asia, and North America. Recent classifications recognize 10 to 13 species in two distinct subgenera, ''Engleriana'' and ''Fagus''. Hornbeam
Hornbeams are hardwood trees in the flowering plant genus ''Carpinus'' in the birch family Betulaceae. The 30–40 species occur across much of the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere.
