"Vo ime na ljubovta" ( mk, Во име на љубовта; "In the name of love") is a song by Tamara Todevska, Vrčak and Adrian Gaxha, who competed with it at Skopje Fest 2008. The song won, having been awarded the most televotes by the general public and the 7-member expert jury, and an English-language version ("Let Me Love You") represented at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, Serbia, on 22 May 2008. It was performed at number eighteen in the semi-final (a position the performers selected), following Evdokia Kadi's " Femme Fatale" for and preceding Vânia Fernandes' "Senhora do mar (Negras águas)" for , but did not acquire enough points to proceed to the final stage of the competition. It was voted the 10th qualifier by the televote, however the juries chose to pass. Macedonia selected its entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 through a national final at the Skopje Fest 2008 on 23 February 2008. Before Eurovision Skopje Fest 2008 ''Skopje Fest 2008'' was a song contest organized by MKRTV that served as Macedonia's national final to select their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. The competition took place on 23 February 2008 at the Metropolis Arena in Skopje, hosted by Živkica Gjurčinovska and Borislav Tnokovski and was broadcast on MTV 1 and MTV Sat. Competing entries MKRTV received 130 submissions from interested artists and composers during a submission period. Fifteen entries were selected from the open submissions, while an additional six entries were submitted by well-known composers directly invited by MKRTV for the competition. Tamara Todevska ( mk, Тамара Тодевска, pronounced , born 1 June 1985), also known mononymously as Tamara, is a Macedonian pop singer. Tamara began her music career in 2003 following the release of her debut studio album '' Sino''. She has won on various music competitions throughout her career such as MAKFest in 2006 and Skopje Fest in 2007. She has represented the Republic of North Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest on two occasions; in 2008, where she failed to qualify for the finals, performing the song " Let Me Love You" with Vrčak and Adrian Gaxha, and in 2019, she placed seventh in the final with the song " Proud", earning the country their best result in the contest ever. Adrian Gaxha (, mk, Адријан Гаџа; born 13 February 1984) is a Macedonian-Albanian singer, songwriter, producer, dancer and entrepreneur. Life and career Adrian Gaxha was born on 13 February 1984 into an Albanian family in the city of Skopje, then part of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, present-day North Macedonia. Gaxha discovered his passion for music at an early age and started to play the viola. He commenced his early music career in 2001 simultaneously with his participation in Nota Fest. Macedonia (officially under the provisional appellation "former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", abbreviated "FYR Macedonia") participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Ninanajna" written by Darko Dimitrov and Rade Vrčakovski. The song was performed by Elena Risteska. The Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised the national final ''Specialen Evroviziski Den'' in order to select the Macedonian entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. Elena Risteska ( mk, Елена Ристеска, ; born 27 April 1986), sometimes known as simply Elena, is a Macedonian singer. She represented Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens with the song "Ninanajna", and finished in 12th place; this was the highest ever finish for the country until Risteska's record was beaten in 2019. Next Time (sometimes rendered "Некст Тајм" in Macedonian Cyrillic) is a popular rock duo from Skopje, North Macedonia. The duo consists of twin brothers Martin and Stefan Filipovski. Stefan fronts the band as the lead singer, while Martin plays the guitar and sings back-up vocals. The group represented the Republic of Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia but failed to reach the final. History Next Time was formed in early 2008 after they signed with Plan B Production. Previously they performed as a garage band at children's music festivals. Discovered by composer and songwriter, Jovan Jovanov, the Macedonian duo released their first single "Ne veruvam vo tebe" ("I Don't Believe in You") in May, 2008. Karolina Gočeva ( mk, Каролина Гочева, ; born 28 April 1980), sometimes credited as Karolina Gocheva or known only as Karolina, is a Macedonian pop singer. Gočeva launched her music career in 1991 with a performance at a local children's show and continued participating in the following years, receiving recognition for her talent. In 1992, she released her first children album titled ''Mamo, pušti me'' ( en, Mom, let me go). Macedonian hip hop covers the Macedonian hip hop culture and the Macedonian language hip hop music primarily created in Macedonia, but also in the Macedonian diaspora. Overview Background The Macedonian hip hop started in the 1980s in the then Socialist Republic of Macedonia, but experienced considerable growth after the declaration of independence of the Republic of Macedonia. One of the first critically acclaimed acts was the rock band Super Nova from Skopje, which utilized rap music elements in some of its songs. The group recorded several rap music tracks for the music production branch of the Macedonian Radio-Television, including ''Hip-hop blues'', ''Rap'', ''Vero'' and others, some including pop, rock, funk, reggae or other elements.
