Vraca Memorial Park
The Vraca Memorial Park ( Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian: ''Spomen-park Vraca'' / Спомен-парк Враца) is a park dedicated to the World War II victims in Sarajevo. It covers 78,000 square meters and mentions the names of over 11,000 men, women, and children killed during World War II. History The idea was to rehabilitate an old Austro-Hungarian fortress by combining the work of Vladimir Dobrović as designer, Alija Kučukalić as sculptor, and Aleksandar Maltarić as landscaper. Construction began in April 1980 and was finished in November 1981. The Memorial Park was opened on November 25, 1981, the "Day of Statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina" in SR Bosnia & Herzegovina commemorationg the date that ZAVNOBIH held their first meeting in 1943. The authorities of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia established many World War II memorials during its existence. Several memorial sites were established between 1945 and 1960, though widespread building started after the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement. Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito commissioned several memorial sites and monuments in the 1960s and 1970s dedicated to World War II battles, and Nazi concentration camp sites. The Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar is located in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was built in 1965 in honor of the Yugoslav Partisans of Mostar who were killed during World War II in Yugoslavia. Livno ( sr-cyrl, Ливно, ) is a city and the administrative center of Canton 10 of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Partisan Cemetery In Livno
Partisans' Memorial Cemetery in Livno was built in 1972 to honor the Yugoslav Partisans of Livno who were killed in the National Liberation Front. It is one of the largest partisan cemeteries in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It contains the remains of 171 unidentified partisans as well as the remains of all the partisans killed in the area. The names of the known partisans are carved into the four sides. During and after the war from 1992 to 1995 it was repeatedly attacked in an attempt to destroy it. During the war it was dynamited twice, but the structure withstood the explosion. It is often defaced by graffiti.
