English Name
English names are names used in, or originating in, England. In England as elsewhere in the English-speaking world, a complete name usually consists of a given name, commonly referred to as a first name, and a (most commonly patrilineal) family name or surname, also referred to as a last name. There can be several given names, some of these being often referred to as a second name, or middle name(s). Given names Most given names used in England do not have English derivation. Most traditional names are Hebrew (Daniel, David, Elizabeth, Susan), Greek (Nicholas, Dorothy, George, Helen), Germanic names adopted via the transmission of Old French/Norman (Robert, Richard, Gertrude, Charlotte), or Latin (Adrian, Amelia, Patrick). There remains a limited set of given names which have an actual English derivation (see Anglo-Saxon names); examples include Alfred, Ashley, Edgar, Edmund, Edward, Edwin, Harold and Oswald. A distinctive feature of Anglophone names is the surnames of import ...

Welsh Name
Fixed surnames were adopted in Wales from the 15th century onwards. Until then, the Welsh had a patronymic naming system. History In 1292, 48 per cent of Welsh names were patronymics and, in some parishes, over 70 per cent. Other names were derived from nicknames, a few non-hereditary personal names and, rarely, occupational names. Patronymic names changed from generation to generation, with a person's baptismal name being linked by ''ap'', ''ab'' (son of) or ''ferch'' (daughter of) to the father's baptismal name. For example, Evan, son of Thomas, would be known as Evan (ap) Thomas; Evan's son, John, would be John (ab) Evan; and John's son Rees would be Rees (ap) John. Patronymics could be extended with names of grandfathers and earlier ancestors, to perhaps the seventh generation. Names such as Llewelyn ap Dafydd ab Ieuan ap Gruffudd ap Meredydd were not uncommon. Those extended patronymics were essentially a genealogical history of the male line. The ''Encyclopaedia of Wale ...

Voyle
Voyle is both a given name and a surname. The origin of the name is from the Welsh language. It was originally moel, meaning bald, but became mutated (a change that happens in the Welsh language under certain grammatical rules, in this instance the soft mutation, from moel to foel.) It can refer to a person or a land feature such as the poorly vegetated top of a round hill. The name is often mis-spelt on census returns and the like, as it became anglicised. As the Welsh letter f is sounded as v then the name became spelled as the following variants; Voil, Voel, Voyl, Voyle and even Voyles. The name tended to be concentrated in Pembrokeshire and other areas of South Wales until recent times. It may refer to: * Mike Voyle (born 1970), Welsh rugby union player *Voyle Gilmore Voyle Gilmore (June 14, 1912 – December 19, 1979) was an American record producer and arranger. He was best known for his work with Frank Sinatra and The Kingston Trio on Capitol Records. Gilmore al ...

Brad Voyles
Bradley Roy Voyles (born December 30, 1976) is a former professional baseball pitcher who played for three seasons. He pitched in 40 games for the Kansas City Royals from 2001 to 2003. Voyles attended Luxemburg-Casco High School in Luxemburg, Wisconsin. He did not pitch for the school's baseball team after his sophomore year because, according to Voyles, he had too little command of his pitches. He entered the workforce after high school and did not plan to attend college until he received a scholarship offer from a Kishwaukee College coach who had only heard of Voyles' performance at a baseball camp. After two years at Kishwaukee, he continued his college baseball career at Lincoln Memorial University. Despite posting an earned run average of 5.06 in 1998, he was selected in that year's Major League Baseball draft in the 45th round by the Atlanta Braves. Voyles remained in the Braves organization until 2001. In spring training of that year, he broke his ankle and was kept off ...
