Allan Pettersson
Gustaf Allan Pettersson (19 September 1911 – 20 June 1980) was a Swedish composer and violist. He is considered one of the 20th century's most important Swedish composers, he was described as one of the last great symphonists, often compared to Gustav Mahler. His music can hardly be confused with other 20th-century works. In the final decade of his life, his symphonies (typically one-movement works) developed an international following, particularly in Germany and Sweden. Of these, his best known work is Symphony No. 7. His music later found success in the United States. The conductors Antal Doráti and Sergiu Comissiona premiered and recorded several of his symphonies. Pettersson's song cycle '' Barefoot Songs'' influenced many of his compositions. Doráti arranged eight of the ''Barefoot Songs''. Birgit Cullberg produced three ballets based on Pettersson's music. Pettersson studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's conservatory. For more than a dec ...

Vox Humana (Daniel Amos Album)
''Vox Humana'' is the sixth studio album by Christian alternative rock band Daniel Amos, released on Refuge Records in 1984. It is the third album in their '' ¡Alarma! Chronicles'' album cycle. Background ''Vox Humana'' was a much brighter album than its predecessor, ''Doppelgänger'', and included catchy, synthesizer-driven pop songs with lyrics about technology's role in American culture. "Travelog" was a song about a television-obsessed man "basking in the blue light". Danish author Søren Kierkegaard, Polish poet Czesław Miłosz, and Britons Malcolm Muggeridge and William Blake are all quoted in the liner notes of the album. DA also included a tribute to Blake with the ballad, "William Blake." "Dance Stop", a song condemning nuclear arms escalation, asked listeners to dance to the song and stop suddenly when the word "stop" is sung. Due to the fast, upbeat punk rock style of the song, it is nearly impossible to follow the song's musical directions. The song went on to beco ...

''Vox Humana'' is the fifth studio album released by American singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins. Released in 1985, it was Loggins' first album released after his appearance upon the soundtrack to the motion picture ''Footloose'' during the year prior. Vox Humana was certified Gold in the US by the RIAA. Overview Among those who make guest appearances are members of DeBarge, the Pointer Sisters, Philip Bailey, Mr. Mister's Richard Page and Steve George. Don Shewey reviewed the album for ''Rolling Stone'', favorably comparing its rhythm tracks and production to Quincy Jones, but criticizing "the overblown productions of the Chicago–Journey– Toto school of bombastic pop kitsch", especially on the song "Forever" with music by David Foster. "Forever" was written for a short film called ''Access All Areas'' produced by Jenny Sullivan (ex-wife of Jim Messina, Loggins' former bandmate). The song was a Top 40 hit in 1985, and continues to be a favorite among Loggins' fans. Some of i ...
