''Vows'' is the debut studio album by New Zealand singer Kimbra. The album was recorded between 2008 and 2011 and was released on 29 August 2011 in New Zealand, and on 2 September in Australia by Warner Bros. Records. ''Vows'' has spawned 3 charting singles, " Settle Down", "Cameo Lover" and "Good Intent". ''Vows'' opened at number three on the RIANZ Albums Chart in its first week after release, with "Settle Down" re-entering the singles chart at number 37. In Australia, the album debuted at number five on the ARIA Albums Chart, later peaking at number four. ''Vows'' has been certified Platinum in Australia for shipment of 70,000 units and Platinum in New Zealand for sales of 15,000 units. At the J Awards of 2011, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. Kimbra
Kimbra Lee Johnson (born 27 March 1990), known mononymously as Kimbra, is a New Zealand singer and songwriter. Known for mixing pop with R&B, jazz and rock musical elements, her accolades include four ARIA Music Awards, two Grammy Awards and seven New Zealand Music Awards. Her musical influences range from Prince and Minnie Riperton to Björk and Jeff Buckley. Kimbra's debut album, ''Vows'', was released in Australia in 2011. Singles from the album include " Settle Down", "Cameo Lover" (which won an Australian Recording Industry Association Award), "Good Intent" and " Two Way Street". The Mars Volta
The Mars Volta is an American progressive rock band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2001. The band's only constant members are Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, producer, direction) and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals, lyrics), whose partnership forms the core of the band. The band's current line-up also includes founding member Eva Gardner (bass), Omar's brother Marcel Rodríguez-López (keyboards, synths, percussion), Linda-Philomène Tsoungui (drums) and Leo Genovese (keyboards, saxophone).
