''Voobaha'' is the debut album by novelty rock group Barnes & Barnes. It was originally released in 1978 by Rhino Records, reissued in 1996 by Oglio Records, and reissued again in 2006 by Collector's Choice. Its title means "greetings" in the band's artificial language of Lumanian. Music videos were shot for the songs "Party in My Pants," "Fish Heads," and "When You Die," all of which were released on the home video compilation '' Zabagabee''. Fish Heads (song)
"Fish Heads" is a novelty song by comedy rock duo Barnes & Barnes, released as a single in 1978 and later featured on their 1980 album '' Voobaha''. It is the most requested song on the Dr. Demento radio show, and a music video for the song made in 1980 was in regular rotation on MTV. The song was featured on Barnes & Barnes' 1982 ''Fish Heads (Greatest Hits)'' 12-inch on Rhino Records. The lyrics are an absurdist celebration of fish heads, describing them in the high-pitched chorus as "roly poly" and delicious to eat. The verses describe various things they (mostly) cannot do such as play baseball, wear sweaters, and play the drums. Actor Bill Paxton, a filmmaker at the time, directed and appeared in the music video for the song, along with cinematographer Rocky Schenck and Robert Haimer's girlfriend at the time, Joan Farber, who designed the costume look. Spazchow
Spazchow is the title of the second album of American comedy rock group Barnes & Barnes, originally released in 1981 by Rhino Records and re-released in 1997 by Oglio Records. Origins The title means "born to suffer at the hands of women and make music" (revealed when the first track, "Intro", is played backward) in the duo's artificial language of Lumanian. The theme of "suffering at the hands of women" is present throughout many of the tracks on the album, giving it a slightly more serious tone than their first album, '' Voobaha''. Many of the songs are connected by themed "links" that tie the album together, and for the 1997 release the links were given titles (or "links") for the album's reissue, and some were created for the album's bonus music. Barnes & Barnes are an American musical duo, formed in Los Angeles in 1970. Though commonly associated with novelty music and comedy rock, their music has also incorporated elements of new wave, synth-pop, and folk rock. The duo formed in 1970 by high school classmates Bill Mumy and Robert Haimer, originally as a private home recording project.
