Von Mansfield
Von Mansfield (born July 12, 1960) is a former defensive back in the National Football League. Biography Mansfield was born Edward Von Mansfield on July 12, 1960 in Anderson, Indiana. Professional career Mansfield was drafted in the fifth round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons and played that season with the Philadelphia Eagles. After four years away from the NFL, he played with the Green Bay Packers during the 1987 NFL season. He played at the collegiate level at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. They create turnovers through hard tackles, interceptions, and deflecting forward passes. Other members of the defensive backfield include strong and free safeties. The cornerback position requires speed, agility, strength, and the ability to make rapid sharp turns. A cornerback's skill set typically requires proficiency in anticipating the quarterback, backpedaling, executing single and zone coverage, disrupting pass routes, block shedding, and tackling. Anderson, Indiana
Anderson, named after Chief William Anderson, is a city in and the county seat of Madison County, Indiana, United States. It is the principal city of the Anderson, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses Madison County. Anderson is the headquarters of the Church of God (Anderson) and home of Anderson University, which is affiliated with the Christian denomination. Highlights of the city include the historic Paramount Theatre and the Gruenewald Historic House. The population was 56,129 at the 2010 census, down from 70,000 in 1970. History Prior to the organization of Madison County, William Conner entered the land upon which Anderson is located.
