Eckart-Wilhelm Von Bonin
Eckart-Wilhelm von Bonin (14 November 1919 – 11 January 1992) was a German World War II night fighter pilot who served in the Luftwaffe. A flying ace or fighter ace is a military aviator credited with shooting down five or more enemy aircraft during aerial combat. He is credited with shooting down 37 enemy aircraft claimed during 150 combat missions. Early life and career Von Bonin was born on 14 November 1919 in Potsdam in the Province of Brandenburg of the Weimar Republic. He was the son of Bogislaw von Bonin and his wife Mathilde, a daughter of Adolf von Bülow. His older brother, Bogislaw served in the Army and later in the ''Amt Blank'', a predecessor of the Federal Ministry of Defence. Two of his brothers also served in the Luftwaffe, Jürgen-Oskar was killed in action on 8 February 1942 while serving as an observer in a ''Tansportgeschwader'' (air transport wing). Hubertus von Bonin (3 August 1911 – 15 December 1943) was a German Luftwaffe military aviator during the Spanish Civil War and World War II, a fighter ace listed with 77 enemy aircraft shot down. He claimed four victories in the Spanish Civil War, and during World War II, 64 on the Eastern Front and nine on the Western Front. Born in Potsdam, von Bonin volunteered for service with the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War where he commanded the 3. Eduard Von Bonin
Eduard Wilhelm Ludwig von Bonin (7 March 1793 – 13 March 1865) was a Prussian general officer who served as Prussian Minister of War from 1852 to 1854 and 1858 to 1859. Life Bonin, of the Bonin noble family of Pomerania and East Prussia, was born in Stolp in Farther Pomerania. In 1806, he entered the regiment of Frederick William, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. During the Fourth Coalition against Napoleon Bonaparte, he participated in Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher's retreat to Lübeck, where he was taken prisoner. Released after giving his word of honor, Bonin studied at the gymnasium in the garrison town of Prenzlau. In August 1809, Bonin entered the 1st ''Garderegiment'' as a ''Fähnrich''. Bogislaw Oskar Adolf Fürchtegott von Bonin (17 January 1908 – 13 August 1980) was a Colonel in the German Wehrmacht and journalist. Early life Von Bonin was born in Potsdam, Brandenburg, and joined the ''4. Reiterregiment'' (4th Cavalry Regiment) of the German ''Reichswehr'' in 1926.
