Volvo M90 Transmission
M90 is the model designation for an automotive rear-wheel drive gearbox that was introduced in mid-1994 Volvo 940/960.The M90 RWD gearbox and the M56 FWD gearbox are considered to be brother and sister because they are built on the same gearbox platform and have many parts in common. All turbocars have the M90 gearbox as standard from 1995. The gearbox is made by Getrag in Germany and it is of a 3-axle design, deriving from the Volvo M56 gearbox of the front wheel driven 850 series. There are three variations of the gearbox. There is a version for the cast-iron 4-cylinder engines of the 940 ( redblock), the all aluminum 6-cylinder of the 960 ( whiteblock), and the version for the Volkswagen 6-cylinder diesel engine D24TIC. Volvo 900 Series
The Volvo 900 Series is a range of executive cars produced by the Swedish manufacturer Volvo Cars from 1990 to 1998. The 900 Series was introduced in 1990 to replace the 700 Series from which it derived. Prior to the end of its production, the 960 was renamed as the Volvo S90 (saloon) and Volvo V90 (estate), and the 940 was renamed 940 Classic, becoming the last rear-wheel-drive cars from Volvo. Visible differences between the 700 and the 900 Series included redesigned rear styling of the saloon models (late 700 estates and early 900 estates are visually identical). The 960 was introduced in 1991 along with a new family of modular engines, and then was substantially revised for the 1995 model year, improving the handling. Clutch
A clutch is a mechanical device that engages and disengages power transmission, especially from a drive shaft to a driven shaft. In the simplest application, clutches connect and disconnect two rotating shafts (drive shafts or line shafts). In these devices, one shaft is typically attached to an engine or other power unit (the driving member), while the other shaft (the driven member) provides output power for work.
