Volvo B10R
The Volvo B10R is a rear-engined bus chassis manufactured by Volvo between 1978 and 1992. It was as its predecessor, the B59, aimed as a citybus chassis, and was succeeded by the B10B in 1992. The B10Rs were bodied mainly by Aabenraa for Denmark, by Säffle and Aabenraa for Sweden by Arna, Säffle, by Hess in Switzerland, by Camo, Salvador Caetano and Irmãos Mota in Portugal and VBK for Norway. In Australia, a few B10Rs were operated by Busways, Hornibrook Bus Lines Hornibrook Bus Lines is an Australian operator of bus services in the Redcliffe Peninsula and surrounding Upper Bayside area of Brisbane. Volvo B59
The Volvo B59 was a rear-engined bus chassis manufactured by Volvo in Sweden between 1970 and 1979. The first Volvo B59 was delivered to the Københavns Sporveje (The City Transport Authority in Copenhagen, Denmark) in 1970, and was fitted with a bodywork built by Aabenraa Karrosserifabrik in Aabenraa. Originally operated as a prototype, it came later entered ordinary service. After withdrawal, It was purchased by Volvo for preservation at the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg. At least 89 were subsequently purchased. The B59 was popular with Australian government operators. Brisbane City Council placed 98 in service between 1976 and 1978, State Transit Authority, Adelaide 307 between 1977 and 1979 and the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board 100. Volvo B10B
The Volvo B10B was a rear-engined step deck single-decker bus chassis manufactured by Volvo between 1992 and 2001. The first prototype were built in 1990, but the B10B wasn't launched until the 1992 Geneva Motor Show. It superseded the Leyland Lynx (by then a Volvo product) and Volvo B10R. For stage use it was gradually succeeded by the low-entry B10BLE, which was introduced only a year later, though not in all markets. For interurban use the B7R came as a gradual replacement in 1998, and ultimately for coach work, the B12B took over in 2001. The B10B was not generally available with a natural gas or biogas engine, like the B10BLE, but two buses were bodied by Vest Karosseri for NSB Biltrafikk in Stavanger in 1998 and 1999. Sydney Bus Museum (formerly the Sydney Bus and Truck Museum) is a not-for-profit transportation museum and education centre for public benefit located in the suburb of Leichhardt, New South Wales, Leichhardt, in Sydney, Australia.
