Volleyball At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's tournament in volleyball at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was the 13th edition of the event in an Olympic Games, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held at Earls Court Exhibition Centre from 28 July to 11 August 2012. Qualification Pools composition Teams were seeded following the Serpentine system according to their ranking as of 15 January 2012. Twelve qualified nations were drawn into two groups, each consisting of six teams. After a robin-round, the four highest-placed teams in each group advanced to a knock-out round to decide the medals. Rosters Preliminary round Teams played a round-robin schedule within the pool and those with the top four point totals advanced to a knockout round. Teams were awarded three points for a 3–0 or 3–1 win, two points for a 3–2 win, one point for a 3–2 loss, and zero points for a 3–0 or 3–1 loss. Earls Court Exhibition Centre
Earls Court Exhibition Centre was a major international exhibition and events venue just west of central London. At its peak it is said to have generated a £2 billion turnover for the economy. It replaced exhibition and entertainment grounds, originally opened in 1887, with an art moderne structure built between 1935 and 1937 by specialist American architect C. Howard Crane. Yoshie Takeshita (竹下 佳江 ''Takeshita Yoshie'', born March 18, 1978) was a Japanese volleyball player who played for JT Marvelous. She served as Head Coach of Japanese volleyball team Victorina Himeji. and now serves as Executive Adviser. She played for the All-Japan women's volleyball team and was a participant at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Olympics. Kim Hae-ran
Kim Hae-ran (Hangul: 김해란, Hanja: 金海蘭; born 16 March 1984) is a South Korean professional volleyball player. She was part of the team at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics. She also competed at the 2006 World Championship and 2018 Nations League. Brenda Castillo (born June 5, 1992, in San Cristóbal) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic and plays as a libero. She was a member of the Dominican Republic national team that won fifth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics, while she was named the tournament's Best Libero. Hui Ruoqi (; born 4 March 1991) is a former Chinese volleyball player. She is the Outside Hitter and the fifteenth Captain of China women's national volleyball team, and plays for Jiangsu. Thaísa Daher de Menezes, also known as Thaísa Menezes or Thaísa Daher, is a professional volleyball player from Brazil. She won back-to-back gold medals at the Olympics in 2008 and 2012.
