Volley Tricolore
Volley Tricolore is a professional volleyball team based in Reggio Emilia, Italy. It plays in the second level of the Italian Volleyball League. The club was formed in 2012 with the merging of the local teams of Correggio and Scandiano with Cavriago, which was playing the games of the Italian second tier in Reggio Emilia. Volley Tricolore plays its home games in PalaBigi, an arena located in the city and shared with Pallacanestro Reggiana. History Men's volleyball always had a good tradition in Reggio Emilia, but every team (La Torre, Volley Reggiano and Latte Giglio) that played in the highest level got relegated or dismantled due to bankruptcy during the years; however international players like Henk-Jan Held and Krysztof Stelmach and famous coach Ljubomir Travica have been involved in Reggio Emilia's volley. PalaBigi
PalaBigi (formerly known as Palasport) is an indoor arena that is located in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The arena is dedicated to the late "Assessore allo Sport" (the sport delegate of the Municipality) Giulio Bigi. The seating capacity of the arena is 4,600 people. It has a seating capacity of 4,550 seats reserved to local fans, and a section of 50 seats reserved for the away fans. The arena was opened in 1968. It is home to Pallacanestro Reggiana basketball team, and Volley Tricolore volleyball team. History The construction of the arena started during the late 1960s, thanks to the efforts of municipal delegate Giulio Bigi, who wanted to build a big sports arena in the city, due to the large interest in sports. Andrii Diachkov (born 28 April 1985) is a Ukrainian volleyball player, a member of Ukraine men's national volleyball team and Montpellier UC. Career Clubs Ukrainian period Andrii Diachkov started his volleyball career in the Ukrainian Men's Volleyball Super League, Ukrainian Superleague in 2005. Thomas Ewen Douglas-Powell (born 16 September 1992) is an Australian volleyball player. Tom first started playing volleyball at Brisbane Grammar School in 2005. In 2009 Tom accepted a scholarship at the Queensland Academy of Sport, and this led to his first Australian National Junior Team selection later that year. He was first invited to trial for the Volleyroos in 2013, and was selected to compete at the world FISU Games in Russia. After this, he was selected to be a part of the Volleyroos and was part of the team thatcompeted at the Asian Championships in Dubai, that won FIVB World League Group 2 in 2014, qualified for the second round of the 2014 World Championships,and played in the 2015 FIVB World League Elite 8.
