Volda University College
Volda University College ( no, Høgskulen i Volda or HVO) is one of the no-tuition state institutions in the system of higher education in Norway. It is located in the town of Volda, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. History HVO was established on 1 August 1994, when the Møre og Romsdal regional college and the Volda Teachers College were merged. HVO has a long tradition in Volda dating back to a teachers' training college which was first established here in 1895. The current rector is Johann Roppen and it has approximately 4,500 students and 350 employees (2020). HVO is divided into four faculties: the Faculty of Humanities and Education, the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts, the Faculty of Social Sciences and History, and the Faculty of Media and Journalism. Higher Education In Norway
Higher education in Norway is offered by a range of eight universities, nine specialised universities (focused on a specific program area), 24 university colleges as well as a range of private university colleges. Volda
Volda is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative centre is the village of Volda. Other villages in the municipality include Dravlaus, Fyrde, Straumshamn, Leira, Bjørke, and Grodås. The municipality is located about south of the town of Ålesund. Nordic Council Of Ministers
The Nordic Council of Ministers is an intergovernmental forum established after the Helsinki Treaty. The purpose of the Nordic Council of Ministers is to complement the Nordic Council and promote Nordic cooperation. Structure The governments of the Nordic countries each have a Minister for Nordic Cooperation. Johann Roppen
Johann Roppen (born 29 June 1967) is a Norwegian professor of media studies. Since 1 August 2015, he has been the rector of Volda University College. Education and career Roppen was born in Bergen and raised in in Ulstein. He studied media and mass communications at Møre og Romsdal District University College, now Volda University College, and at the University of Bergen, where he completed his doctorate in 2003 with a thesis on the concentration of media ownership, focussing on . In 2004 he published ''Medieindustrien'', a book which explores the political and economic consequences of this concentration.
