''Voir Dire'' (literally "See Say" in French) is the fifth studio album by the heavy metal band Will Haven. It was released in 2011 on Bieler Bros. Records. It is the first album to feature frontman Grady Avenell since 2001's critically acclaimed '' Carpe Diem'', and also features new bassist Chris Fehn (ex-percussionist of Slipknot). The album was well received by critics, and featured in Metal Hammer's top 50 albums of 2011. The LP edition of the album was issued by Holy Roar Records in 2012. Will Haven is a noise metal band from Sacramento, California. Formed in 1995, the group issued albums through many labels and have toured with acts such as Deftones and Soulfly before going on a hiatus in 2002. They would regroup in 2005 and continue to record and tour since. Throughout their history, they have issued 6 full-length albums (the latest being ''Muerte'' in 2018) as well as 2 EPs and a live DVD. Their musical style has been noted to be a combination of many metal and hardcore subgenres. History In 1995, Will Haven, named after a fictional, self-created character, formed and released a six-track demo. The band was formed from members of Sock, a band that was formed with Shaun Lopez of Far. Will Haven's debut self-titled seven-track EP was released in 1996 to positive reviews. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. Slipknot (band)
Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Jordison, Gray, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. Gray died on May 24, 2010, and was replaced during 2011–2014 by guitarist Donnie Steele. Jordison was dismissed from the band on December 12, 2013. Steele left during the recording sessions for '' .5: The Gray Chapter''. The band found replacements in Alessandro Venturella on bass and Jay Weinberg on drums. After the departure of Jordison, the only founding member in the current lineup is percussionist Crahan. Chris Fehn
Christopher Fehn (born February 24, 1973) is an American musician. He was a percussionist and backing vocalist for the heavy metal band Slipknot from 1998 to 2019, in which he was designated #3. He was also the bassist for Will Haven from 2010 to 2012. Career Slipknot Fehn grew up in Ankeny, Iowa. Prior to joining Slipknot, he played as a kicker on the Wayne State University football team. Fehn joined the band around August (or September) 1998, replacing percussionist Brandon Darner. As well as lending his percussion talents to the band, Fehn has also sung backing vocals on a number of songs Slipknot has both recorded and performed live. Fehn describes himself as a "big fan of the band" and says of Slipknot, "the world needed something like this." In an interview with Face Culture, Fehn stated that the band members gave him a hard time during his early years with the band. Grady Avenell
Grady Avenell (born December 25, 1972) is an American musician. He is the singer for hardcore-metal band Will Haven. Avenell was born in California. He is notable for his intense vocal style, consisting mainly of screaming. He formed Will Haven in 1995 with members of the band Sock, releasing three albums ('' El Diablo'', '' WHVN'' and the acclaimed '' Carpe Diem'') before leaving the band in 2002, wishing to look after his family and attend college. He returned to the group in 2005, although missed some shows in Glasgow and Newport in January 2006, with his position filled by various artists such as Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro, Craig B of Aereogramme and Mikey Demus of Skindred. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States.
