FFH (band)
FFH, also known as Far from Home, are an American contemporary Christian band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1993, FFH released six independent projects before being signed by Essential Records. Since then, they have released seven studio albums, as well as a "greatest-hits" album. Background The group formed as Four for Harmony, an a cappella group. Over time they developed a vocal acoustic pop style, similar to that of Avalon, and changed their name to Far from Home. That name was being used by a secular duo and they became known as FFH. FFH sang on ''Shine Your Light'' with Nicole Nordeman and "Hide Me in Your Heart" on ''City On a Hill: Sing Alleluia'' (2002), and on "Table of the Lord" with Paul Coleman Trio on ''City On a Hill: The Gathering'' (2003), and "Where Are You" and "Merciful Rain" on ''City On a Hill: Songs of Worship and Praise'' (2000). Essential Records is a contemporary Christian record label based in Franklin, Tennessee. It is a division of the major label Sony Music Nashville. History It was established in 1992 and acquired by Brentwood Music in 1993. The label's first big hit release was "Flood" by Jars of Clay in 1996. Contemporary Christian music, also known as CCM, Christian pop, and occasionally inspirational music is a genre of modern popular music, and an aspect of Christian media, which is lyrically focused on matters related to the Christian faith and stylistically rooted in Christian music. Michael Boggs (musician)
Michael Dean Boggs (born November 8, 1978) is an American Christian musician, guitarist, and worship pastor, who mainly plays Christian pop. His nickname was "Boggsy", while he was with FFH. He has released two studio albums, ''More Than Moved'' in 2010 with and '' More Like a Lion'' in 2014 with Stylos Records, while he released, an extended play, ''More Like a Lion'' in 2013, with Stylos Records. He was awarded the Dove Award for Songwriter of the Year, in 2012. Early and personal life Boggs was born, Michael Dean Boggs, on November 8, 1978, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he started playing music by drumming "on pots and pans with pencils", while his father joined in playing a guitar and singing. During his tenure with FFH, he was in the process of obtaining a theology degree. Robert Beeson
Robert Beeson is a music executive. He founded Essential Records in 1992, home to artists Jars of Clay and Third Day, along with Caedmon's Call, Bebo Norman and FFH. He also created the City On a Hill series. He became Senior VP A&R for Provident Music Group after they bought Essential, working with Casting Crowns, and Michael W. Smith. He left Provident Music Group in 2006 and formed iShine Records, a faith-based music/multimedia company geared specifically towards the tween marketplace.
