Vohenstrauß (or ''Vohenstrauss''; ) is a town in Germany, located in the north-eastern part of the Bavarian region Upper Palatinate. The town is situated in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab. It is the birthplace of Heribert Illig. SpVgg Vohenstrauß
The SpVgg Vohenstrauß is a German association football club from the town of Vohenstrauß, Bavaria. The club's most successful era was in the early 1970s when it spent five season in the tier three Bayernliga. History The club was formed on 14 November 1922 but initially became a semi independent department of TV Vohenstrauß. Only in 1928 did the club become fully independent and join the Southern German Football Federation. In 1931 it changed its name to the current one. After falling inactive during the Second World War the club received permission to reform in January 1946. ''SpVgg'' came close to Bayernliga qualification for the first when it won the Upper Palatinate division of the 2. Amateurliga Bayern in 1958 but lost a three-game series promotion round to 1. FC Passau. Promoted to the Landesliga Bayern-Mitte in 1966 the club instantly became a strong side in the league, finishing fourth in its first season there and third in its second. Neustadt An Der Waldnaab (district)
Neustadt an der Waldnaab is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Schwandorf, Amberg-Sulzbach, Bayreuth and Tirschenreuth, and by the Czech Republic (Plzeň Region). The city of Weiden in der Oberpfalz is enclosed by, but does not belong to the district. History The district was established in 1972 by merging the former districts of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Eschenbach and Vohenstrauß. Geography The district is located in the mountains of the Upper Palatine Forest (''Oberpfälzer Wald''). Heribert Illig
The phantom time hypothesis is a historical theory asserted by Heribert Illig. First published in 1991, it hypothesizes a conspiracy by the Holy Roman Emperor Otto III, Pope Sylvester II, and possibly the Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII, to fabricate the Anno Domini dating system retroactively, in order to place them at the special year of AD 1000, and to rewrite history to legitimize Otto's claim to the Holy Roman Empire. Illig believed that this was achieved through the alteration, misrepresentation and forgery of documentary and physical evidence. According to this scenario, the entire Carolingian period, including the figure of Charlemagne, is a fabrication, with a "phantom time" of 297 years (AD 614–911) added to the Early Middle Ages. Franz Volkmar Reinhard
Franz Volkmar Reinhard (12 March 1753 – 6 September 1812) was a German Protestant theologian born in Vohenstrauß. Biography In 1780 he became an associate professor of theology and philosophy at the University of Wittenberg, where he served as rector in 1790–91. In 1792 he was appointed ''Oberhofprediger'' (first preacher) to the Saxon court in Dresden. Reinhard was one of the more influential Protestant ministers of his era, and was an important representative of "enlightened theological supernaturalism". Bayernliga
The Bayernliga (English: Bavarian league) is the highest amateur football league and the second highest football league (under the Regionalliga Bayern) in the state of Bavaria (german: Bayern) and the Bavarian football league system. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fourth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the third tier.
